Robert E. Lee Reader (The American Civil War)
This is an excellent collection of stories of Robert E. Lee before, during and after the war. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in Lee the family man, military general and college president.

This review is from: The Robert E. Lee Reader (Paperback)
This is an excellent book that I would recommend to all Civil War buffs.
I now understand why Lee had no choice but to side with the South. The events of April, 1861 are detailed excellently in this book around page 91. Robert E. Lee was promoted on March 28, 1861 and was offered command of the Union Army 2-3 weeks later. He declined and the rest is history. |
