Robert Ludlum's absolute BEST, most thrilling novels.

The list author says: "During the Cold War, one author stood head & shoulders above the rest, and Ludlum IS that man. He wrote such great stuff that I was almost sad to see the Cold War end...almost. The literary world lost one of the all-time greats when he suddenly passed away. But even in death Robert is one busy guy...so far I believe at least 5-6 books have come out featuring his name on the front as THE only author. Some have actually been really good, too (The Sigma Protocol, & The Janson Directive) but unfortunately the rest have been sub-par--even for when Ludlum wrote poorly. Still, nobody can beat him for sheer narrative force...and if you enjoyed the Bourne movies, you simply MUST read the books -- this may be hard to believe, but they are infinitely better. Go ahead, prove me wrong..."

The Matarese Circle
3.  The Matarese Circle by Robert Ludlum
The list author says:
"My 2nd Ludlum book, and for sentimental reasons, still my favorite.  If you cannot identify with the cold war, this novel will NOT make sense -- but if you can, it absolutely ROCKS."

The Parsifal Mosaic
4.  The Parsifal Mosaic by Robert Ludlum
The list author says:
"Many consider this to be Ludlum's absolute crowning achievement.  Again, during the cold war nobody wrote better spy novels -- NOBODY."

The Chancellor Manuscript
5.  The Chancellor Manuscript by Robert Ludlum
The list author says:
"An absolutely WONDERFUL plot:  what if J. Edgar Hoover didn't die of natural causes?  A conspiracy that still holds up well after all these years."

The Holcroft Covenant: A Novel
6.  The Holcroft Covenant: A Novel by Robert Ludlum
The list author says:
"The Fourth Reich was crafted and set in motion even before the fall of Hitler.  This is how it could have played out.  Simply superb."

4.3 out of 5 stars  See all reviews (46 customer reviews)

The Icarus Agenda
7.  The Icarus Agenda by Robert Ludlum
The list author says:
"A bit long, but still a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am thriller involving mid-east terrorist bent on revenge.  Clancy's Patriot Games seems a bit too similar to me..."
$7.19   Used & New from: $0.01

The Aquitaine Progression: A Novel
8.  The Aquitaine Progression: A Novel by Robert Ludlum
The list author says:
"Another contender for the all-time best novel by Ludlum.  The New World Order as you may have heard has been frighteningly portrayed here in a truly scary tale that could have happened."
