5.0 out of 5 stars Great performance of Robert Ramsey, June 17, 2008

This review is from: Robert Ramsey: Choral Music (Audio CD)
Robert Ramsey was a relatively unknown composer from the early 1600's who composed primarily liturgical church music. This performance of his few extant works is exquisite! If you are looking for drama, then music from the 1600's is not for you, but for liturgical performance, this is wonderful. Little is known of this composer, as Ramsey was overshadowed by other famous peers, including Byrd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good choir for mostly good music, August 28, 2007
This review is from: Robert Ramsey: Choral Music (Audio CD)
There isn't exactly anything spectacular about this music at all: it's nice, some of it is very good...but there aren't any "great" moments. I like the "Magnificat" piece the most.

Magnificat (also the group performing), and Philip Cave do Robert Ramsey a nice deal with this...and if you think you need to stretch your collection of Renaissance, then you might consider this.
