the schumann conterto is a product of famous sessios at wembley town hall in 9/60, this is the best of the cellist's many recordings of this work, with the conductor and musicians combining to provide the ideal framework for his musing poetic conception. the depth of tone he acheves at times is still capable of taking the breath away- (taped to my cd)
