4.0 out of 5 stars A Baseball Hero, March 24, 2005
I think that this book really tells the reader about the life behind the greatest Latin American baseball player to ever live. The book also compares what Roberto did to what Jackie Robinson had done earlier in baseball history. The breaking of the color barrier was huge steps for players of a different race. Baseball had been segregated up until Jackie Robinson became the first African- American player to sign a contract with a professional team. This book also shows the reader great pictures of the life and childhood of Roberto Clemente. There are also great pictures of Roberto with some of the most skilled players to ever have played the game. It shows to us that he was accepted as a ball player and as a person.
