This old version is interesting, but...,

This review is from: Robert's Rules of Order: The Classic Manual of Parliamentary Procedure (Hardcover)
if you're looking to run a meeting using parliamentary procedure, buy the 10th ed., which has superceding rules and is in the modern English. This is a reprint of the original of 1907. However, if you just want some information on the basics of order or are wanting to see how these rules have evolved, then you might find this interesting.

Not the right book if Robert is your parliamentary authority,

This review is from: Robert's Rules of Order: The Classic Manual of Parliamentary Procedure (Hardcover)
This is a reprint of one of the earlier editions of Robert's Rules which has been superseded by the current edition. While fine for historical research, if you are in need of the correct parliamentary authority for use in your organization, you should obtain the current (11th) edition of Robert's Rules.

This review is from: Robert's Rules of Order: The Classic Manual of Parliamentary Procedure (Hardcover)
Robert's Rules of Order is a classic in the parliamentary procedure. This edition has a new foreward by Judith A. Roberts and is a reprint of the original of 1907.That being said, it still has relevancy to today. Most of us will have from time to time a meeting of import to attend in our life time, be it city, county or local organization. To make the meeting flow with order and get a job done, you need a procedure to follow that brings fairness to all sides. If democracy is to be maintained and a rule by the majority, which does not infringe on or jeopardize the rights of minorities, this book can justifiably claim to point to the ways in which democracy can best be practically accomplished in a public forum. This book explains conduct, common courtesy and observance all are the underpinnings of order. The language in this book is not the most modern, but you'll get the point, and is not hard to understand. The main thing here is that the principles underlying both the Rules of Order, which form the first section of this volume can be directly correlated to the second section on Organization and Conduct of Business. All in all, this book is a very good book to get meetings in order to accomplish your worthy goals.

This is an excellent primer of Robert's Rules of Order. This book was so good, I bought several copies and gave them to my friends that are in organizations that use Robert's Rules of order in their meetings.
