Simply the best Latin party song of all time, "Robi Rob's Boricua Anthem" is a tribute to the island of Puerto Rico and its' people in a song that will make you jump, dance, and just have plenty of fun. Producer Robert Clivilles, who is of Puerto Rican descent, teams up with Panama's hottest export in recent years, El General, in doing a dance-reggae homage to Puerto Rico.

With his reggae-flavored vocals, El General moves the crowd. The song's beats, tempo, and rhythm make this a high-energy dance song where taking a break or slowing down area no-no. You really don't need to know Spanish to understand this song, which makes it great for anyone who want to get down to a Latin dance beat.

For anyone who doesn't know what the term "Boricua" means, it refers to anything (person or thing) that comes from Puerto Rico. The term, derived from the island's indigenous name, "Borinquen" (it meant "Land of the Noble Lord" in Taino culture) is used by Puerto Ricans to describe or identify something of their own. Spanish-speaking Caribbean nations have always preserved and paid homage to their island's native inhabitants prior to the arrival of the Spaniards in almost anything they do. Whether it is in song, a town's name, or even words such as "hamaca" (it means hammock, and it is where the English word is derived from) indigenous culture is well respected.

The great thing about this song is that although it pays tribute to Puerto Rico, many other Spanish-speaking countries are recognized at the end of the song. I can guarantee you that this song will make you break a sweat. Although it is not available as a single anymore, you can still find the original version on C&C's "Anything Goes" album and on many Latin dance compilations available on the market.
