Robin Cousins is an inside look at the sport and art of figure skating through the prism of one man's stellar and unusually varied career. Editorial Reviews

Review

Kimball's meticulous and extensive research results in a book that is rich in detail. As she chronologically follows Cousins from his early efforts on limited ice facilities in England to his Olympic victory and subsequent professional ventures, she paints vivid pictures at each stop along the way. The bed-sitter in london. Life in Denver living with Paul Wylie's family while being coached by Carlo Fassi. Olympic triumph in Lake Placid in 1980. Running with Carol and Walter Probst's dream in Lake Arrowhead. As a star in the musical, Cats....The 23 pages Kimball devotes to the making of the Cutting Edge, the movie on which Cousins acted as choreographer and technical advisor, is so packed with detail you may want to rent the movie and watch it again with book in hand. -- American Skating World

Without the constraints of a deadline, Kimball has been able to talk to almost everyone who had an influence on Cousins' life. Since many of these were and are at the top level of the sport and skating entertainment business, Kimball is able to present an engaging array of opinions....The depth of Kimball's research gives today's skaters a wonderful insight into how different their sport was not so long ago. -- Blades on Ice magazine

4.0 out of 5 stars He's Private about his Personal Life!, August 4, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Robin Cousins (Hardcover)
Robin Cousins MBE is a well-known British figure skater who won the Men's Gold Medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. This book holds back a lot on his personal life. He doesn't discuss his relationships with men or women personally. He is very professional regarding his sport and his book acknowledges the challenges that he faces. But he won't discuss his sexual orientation and that's fine with me. I still think it's worth the buy if you love the sport of figure skating.
