4.0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I guess I'm a little confused with the negative reviews for this book. I love it just as much as Robin Miller's first cookbook. I agree that some of the ingredient combinations sound odd, but every recipe that I've tried has been wonderful. 3.0 out of 5 stars Loved Quick Fix Meals, this book not so much
Robin Miller's earlier "Quick Fix Meals" is one of my favorite cookbooks, so I was eager for more. This cookbook consistently applies Robin's approach to weeknight meals, but it relies on olives and capers for flavor, which I do not enjoy.

I guess I'm a little confused with the negative reviews for this book. I love it just as much as Robin Miller's first cookbook. I agree that some of the ingredient combinations sound odd, but every recipe that I've tried has been wonderful. This cookbook allows me to create home-cooked meals in a relatively short amount of time, and everyone loves them! I really appreciate that most of the ingredients lists are either fairly short or mainly rely on pantry staples that I always have. This cookbook is helping me keep grocery costs down as prices rise (even as I've had to give up some of my other favorite cookbooks because of the prices of required ingredients). Strongly recommended for adventurous eaters with smaller budgets and little time. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, flavorful recipes for the way we eat today, March 30, 2008
This review is from: Robin to the Rescue: Quick & Simple Recipes for Delicious Home Cooking (Paperback)
I picked this up at Target when it came out because most of the recipes sound like the way we like to eat; I usually have ingredients like fresh basil and cilantro, rice wine vinegar, shallots, lime, etc.,so these recipes don't scare me off (if you want plain food, get a Betty Crocker book!) So far, I've tried Spicy Chicken Meatballs with Tomato Lime Sauce, Flank Steak with Parsley Basil Chimchurri, and Pan-Seared Tilapia with Mango-Ginger Sauce. All were wonderful. Next on the list to try are:

--Green Beans with Pineapple Vinaigrette
--Spanish Chicken
--Grilled Pork Medallions with Avocado-Mango Salsa
--Chile Lime Skirt Steak
--Southwest Cabbage Slaw

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth The Money, January 29, 2009
This review is from: Robin to the Rescue: Quick & Simple Recipes for Delicious Home Cooking (Paperback)
I am so glad that I bought this cook book! Robin gives suggestion for every recipe like how to make a big batch, how long the items will stay fresh in the refrigerator and freezer, and how to add variations to the dish. This book has helped me get supper on the table a lot quicker after a busy day at work. I definitely urge you to get a copy of this cook book! It was a wonderful addition to my kitchen!

One thing I will say of Robins recipes is if it doesn't turn out exactly how you think it should, try it again and add something else or try a different cooking method. For Example: The first thing I made was the spicy chicken meatballs with tomato and lime dipping sauce. I made them exactly as the recipe says to but I found that I didn't have enough room in my pan to make all the meatballs and it would have taken too long to make them all up in batches. So instead I put the rest of them in a 375 oven for 20 minutes, flipping once, and they turned out great! I've made adjustments to other recipes in the book and they've turned out perfectly! Don't be afraid to make it your own and change the recipes a bit!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a fan of this book, May 18, 2009
This review is from: Robin to the Rescue: Quick & Simple Recipes for Delicious Home Cooking (Paperback)
I do alot of cooking and so I spend alot of time looking at cookbooks for new ideas and inspiration so was excited by the title of this book but was disappointed by the recipes. I cook for my husband and children who are not picky eaters and I'm in no way a novice cook but I found the recipes in this book really strange. The sauces are just bizzare and they don't turn out all that great and are not as easy as the title would have you believe. I live in the northwest and do alot of comfort food cooking so this book did not fit the bill on that count. If you like strange food combinations and dishes that aim to be "interesting" go for this book. On the other hand, if you need a book of recipes that your kids will love and your hubby wont look at strangly you may want to try another book.

I am a new cooking and I find her recipes REALLY easy to follow. So far all the recipes I have tried are really great. My ONLY drawback is the recipes are a bit bland (for my taste) so I always DOUBLE the herbs in all her recipes. They recipes are REALLY quick and perfect for weeknights when you are in a hurry.

A friend recommended this book to me; we shared lunch on Wednesdays and were always trying new things out on each other. This is one of the select few cookbooks I keep in my kitchen and use on a regular basis. Not only are the recipes truly innovative and easy, they spark the imagination and inspire creativity on an individual basis. I'd give this cookbook as a gift; I consider that high praise.

This cookbook is great for the non-cook as well as someone who is an experienced cook. The menus and various ways to use the extras without just reheating are great. I collect cookbooks and have over 300 at last count and will use this one often.

love watching Robin Miller on TV. Didn't realize this book was printed awhile ago. Wish it was a more updated book, but the recipes are good. Like to see more pictures though. I purchased one for me and one for my son. I do like her simple recipes
