Product Description

From the Manufacturer

115 volt, 2-stage design. 1/2" ACME and 1/4" MFL intake fitting. No-hassle over-the-counter replacement warranty.

Product Description

The Robinair 15500 has been performance tested to meet Robinair’s high standards. It features power and capacity for a wide range of service applications, a high CFM rating for fast, thorough evacuation and a two-stage rotary vane design. Features: Two-stage Design – Cleans the system more thoroughly than a single-stage pump, the second stage starts pumping at a lower pressure so you can pull a deeper, ultimate vacuum; Oil Drain Valve – Positioned at the bottom of the oil reservoir and angled for faster, more complete draining; Oil Fill Port – Makes adding oil simple since the port is accessible from the front or either side. The sight glass on the front of the pump shows you when enough oil has been added; Heavy-Duty Motor – High torque design for easy startup and efficient operation; and a Die-Cast Aluminum Housing – Cast aluminum housings make the pumps lightweight but durable.

I believe this pump will last a long time.

First I would like to address an issue that several have made about this pump not drawing a good vacuum and/or misting a lot of oil out of the exhaust.
Texas Mark
This vacuum pump sure does a great job, pulls a deep vacuum quickly.

I originally purchased the lower model version, the 15300 3 CFM, and I wasn't really pleased with it and then I come to find that this one the upgraded version is actually a few bucks cheaper..... what? The same pump design but more power for cheaper? Yes. and it works a heck of a lot better too. Will bring any gauge to below -30 Hg within 10-20 seconds. All this being said it is amazing for Vacuum purging BHO. With the older lower model pump it could take anywhere from 5-7 hours to get some oil under 110F to not move, but with this new one I swear I can get it done in 2 hours. This thing is quiet and a beast.

Make sure you read the directions properly when adding oil. You don't just add oil until it reaches the oil fill line. You must turn the pump on, take off the exhaust fitting, and close one of the caps, and leave it running for one minute. After that one minute the oil level should be where the oil is actually at. So you need to run it for a minute to check oil levels, but other than that this thing can run for a long time and will get hot. Not a problem though cause this thing was designed with heatsync technology and stays cool everywhere else except for a few places.

All in all I loved this thing way better than the lower model and it was CHEAPER. Get this thing if you need a pump to pull -30Hg and beyond.

Ordered the Robinair instead of a cheaper no-name brand figuring it would last. The first time I used it, it worked great. Pulled over 29 in of vacuum, nice and quiet, I was very happy with it. But when I got it out a couple of weeks later to use it a second time, it would only pull 25 in. I replaced the oil, but it still would only pull 25. So I talked with Robinair tech support (actually spoke with an application engineer at the factory, not a call center in India! Gotta give them points for that!). Anyway, he thinks one of the vanes went bad and only one stage is working. I'm sending it back for a warranty replacement. Hopefully it's not a design issue and the new one will work fine. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This thing will easily pull vacuum within minutes at most. I use it mostly to degas material in a 5 gal vessel. It has never failed to pull full vacuum. I see lots of people talking about it pulling 30+ vacuum which isnt likely. Standard atmospheric pressure is 29.92 In. Hg, so your pump is doing its job perfectly if it pulls down to the exact negative of that number (-29 in hg) and this pump has done that everytime for me. Ive run this pump degassing material for 4 straight days at a given time and the pump ran like a champ.
It will not only pull and remove all trace gas from your material but also pull all moisture from your material also. If you run concentrates, then you have stumbled onto exactly what you were looking for! Save time and order yourself a quart of the vacuum pump oil too, youll need it after a few vacuum runs. Change your oil when you notice it starting to get too discolored. After all, its the lubrication for some highly precise veins spinning inside under tight tolerances.

Works good attached to a vac-it pro, pulls hard. Puts out alot of excess smoke when first pulling and also after running for hours the surface temp will burn you, I've measured it at 135+ degrees Fahrenheit.

I used to degas epoxy using a hand pump and a small jar. That was painful. This finishes evacuating an empty three gallon chamber in about a minute. It even maintains a strong vacuum on chambers that don't seal perfectly - you'll feel the chamber get cold when this happens.

This pump is much quieter than I expected. It vibrates but there's no high pitched sound other than a little gurgling when it's moving air.

Buy extra oil. As the instruction manual says, water vapor ruins the oil. Oil continuously flows through the pump with low pressure gasses becoming trapped in bubbles. The gasses then slowly boil out of the oil as it's in the reservoir. The pump doesn't get hot enough to expel water so it remains in the oil and turns it cloudy. I instantly ruined my oil attempting the "freeze water in a vacuum" trick but it was very easy to change it.
