Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 3-Cheerful, realistic, color illustrations accompany a simple rhyming text that describes the life cycle of the American robin. From the triumphant return in spring to the departure of southbound migratory flocks, Posada mentions food, nesting materials, eggs (no mating), hatching, and care of the young. A more detailed section for adults and curious children divulges further facts and gives instructions for attracting these birds into one's backyard. More detailed than Fay Robinson's competent Singing Robins (Lerner, 2000) and less so than Nancy Carol Willis's handsome The Robins in Your Backyard (Cucumber Island Storytellers, 1997), this bright little book will appeal to readers and fit tidily into the curriculum.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT Robin Book, March 17, 2010

This review is from: Robins: Songbirds of Spring (Library Binding)
I have been a kindergarten teacher for over 30 years and I will rate this as one of my favorite science books for small children. Text is informative, yet simplistic. Pictures are wonderful, bright and big! What a wonderful surprise to find that the book continually rhymes, making it useful for this skill also. I have been searching for a great book about robins and now I own this real jewel of a book! My students loved the book as much as I do!
