Scotland Discovers a Hidden Gem,
By Ian Hunter (Falkirk Scotland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Robinson Ear's Little Whirled of Sound (Audio CD)
This album is simply extra-ordinary. Some may say an ecclectic mix I would say a masterful blend, from the very first track you are gripped by (as they say in France) "a certain something" and you are not sure what. As the album progresses some tracks wash over you with emotion such as Mastheads & Ride the Moon others have you sure this is an original unreleased 50's star. Wordy Blues is worthy of becoming a legend in it's lunchtime.I can hear shades of Tom Waits, Gordon Gano (Milwuakie connex . I guess) but the most strange for me is Alex Harvey - this boy Halverson can give them all a run for diversity & depth. As for the endless choice and variety of instrumentation this guy is a real talent. If you have not bought it buy it, if you have not heard it borrow it and if you ever see this guy billed as appearing live go along if you don't you WILL regret it.

I think its quite good, actually,,

This CD is really very good. I was hoping for a singer-songwriter kind of thing, but I really didn't get that. But I do have to say, I'm really quite "turned on" by the kind of songs on this CD! It reminds me of the way it must have felt in the sixties when people were hearing music on albums that was "brand new".
