Scotland Discovers a Hidden Gem,

This album is simply extra-ordinary. Some may say an ecclectic mix I would say a masterful blend, from the very first track you are gripped by (as they say in France) "a certain something" and you are not sure what. As the album progresses some tracks wash over you with emotion such as Mastheads & Ride the Moon others have you sure this is an original unreleased 50's star. Wordy Blues is worthy of becoming a legend in it's lunchtime.I can hear shades of Tom Waits, Gordon Gano (Milwuakie connex . I guess) but the most strange for me is Alex Harvey - this boy Halverson can give them all a run for diversity & depth. As for the endless choice and variety of instrumentation this guy is a real talent. If you have not bought it buy it, if you have not heard it borrow it and if you ever see this guy billed as appearing live go along if you don't you WILL regret it.

This CD is really very good. I was hoping for a singer-songwriter kind of thing, but I really didn't get that. But I do have to say, I'm really quite "turned on" by the kind of songs on this CD! It reminds me of the way it must have felt in the sixties when people were hearing music on albums that was "brand new".

I have to say I've never heard of this guy but the fretless "ear" guitar on the cover of the CD intrigued me. I haven't stopped listening to it since I got it last friday and I have to say it's one of the more fascinating "records" I've heard in a long time. This guy is obviously a world-class songwriter, and the way this music is put together has changed my opinion of not caring for orchestra strings in music. It almost sounds like he got a bunch of rag-tag dudes together and taught them how to play celloes and violins along with Muddy Waters' old slide guitar. I hope this guy gets big enough for everyone to hear!

Talk about a smorgasborg of sound! I heard about Robinson Ear through the newspaper in Sydney, Australia. I missed his tour here but I went ahead and ordered the CD. FANTASTIC! Im a big listener of everything from Tom Waits to Beck to Sgt Peppers, and this is the best of all those "whirleds" BRAVO!

i buy and listen to a lot of music and rarely am this impressed. There is so much wonderful feeling and music in this cd: great voices, creative instrumentation, variety, fun, intriguing lyrics. i am very excited about this cd. it is good to listen to in the car and at home. the music reminds me of the spark of genius you hear when you listen to pink floyd or the beatles, but with the intimacy of a singer-songwriter. This has both depth and wit! There are no lulls or songs you want to skip over---it's good from beginning to end. Very good!

I came across this CD quite by chance through a radio show in Sydney, Australia, and then went and saw a show at the Cat and Fiddle in Sydney. I am greatly impressed by the originality and style of this combo. This is music for people who are sick of the record company regurgitation! Its touching and humourous at the same time and can be listened to over and over and always contains a suprise for the listener.I recommend this music to all and if you are lucky enough to catch a live show, DO IT!
