This review is from: Robo-Bop (Audio CD)
"Robo-bop", released in 2001, is a jazz disc with a diverse, contemporary sound but a classic feel. The excellent opening track, "Robo-bop", and then the irresistable "Something Personal" which follows sound like they belong on a classic bop album. "Ask Yourself" has a Latin jazz flavor, as does "At This Point in Time". "The Big If" and "The Answer", both excellent tracks as well, lean more toward cool jazz. The ballad "Song for Lianna" is another standout. All the tracks were composed by Dave Le Febvre except for the closing "In a Sentimental Mood". He's got quite a remarkable range. The compositions are always interesting and accessible. The band is also excellent, their playing supple and nuanced. Well worth owning.
