I read about this somewhere, I forget now, that this was a Roger Manning project, available in Japan only, so of course I had to check it out. While I was listening to it, I did a little more 'net surfing and found out that "Malibu" is Manning's "mix DJ" moniker, a nickname given to him by Beck while he was touring and recording with him.

So, this is a "mix" disc of sorts, very bouncy music (in fact, one of the songs is called "Bounce"), mostly electronica-based but some fancy guitar (a nice cameo by Jason Falkner on one track!) is slipped in here and there, plus some intriguing vocal samples, both sung and spoken. Of all of Manning's projects, it's most closely associated with the Moog Cookbook (check that out; lots of fun covers!), but this is less cheesy, or jokey. It's just good, uptempo electronic music that you can dance to if you want (or write reviews). I'll probably end up listening to Manning's last "proper" solo album, Land Of Pure Imagination, more often, but this was a pleasant listen to be sure.

As always, Roger never disappoints. If you like bouncing electronica, get this now! Go Roger!

If you're a fan, and you like to groove....you'll know what I mean when I say that this solo project is the bomb! So, let's see..this guy (Roger Manning) has a beautiful singing voice (though he's not really singing in this cd), he plays like 2 zillion instruments, and now he's showcasing his electronic instrument collection! Please keep em coming Roger! This CD is just plain fun! Yet another reason to thank your "supplier" Roger.
