4.0 out of 5 stars Rocop Vs. Terminator! A lot of FUN!! December 15, 2008
By Michael
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I was surprised to see that nobody did a review on this Snes title. This was one of the first games I got along with Super Mario World and Mario All stars. I gave this title 4 stars only because the Sega genesis version is better as far as graphics but both games are very fun to play.

Throughout the game you play as the Robocop (Protagonist) and the weapons you use differ as you progress through the game (pistol, rocket launcher, heat seekers etc.). Its a side scrolling game much like Contra but less face paced and you have a heath meter above that makes it easier to progress further through the game. There is health that you receive throughout the game but as you get further through the levels there are a lot less of them. SO I WARN YOU: This game gets a lot harder when you get closer to fighting the Terminator.

I haven't played this game in a long time and I currently do not own this title but when I'm reminded about my favorite Snes titles this one always comes to mind. Anyway, your enemies include criminals, cyborgs, including the cyborg from Robocop 2 who is a boss fight, terminators and the original Terminator (Antagonist)who you'll have to fight as you progress through the harder levels. I am currently shopping for a Super Nintendo and this title is at the top of my buying list.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stiff controls, but still a very fun game April 11, 2012
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This is a pretty good side scrolling one player shooter for the Super Nintendo. This is no Contra, the controls are pretty stiff, since you play as Robocop as he walks through the crime filled streets of Detroit all the way into the war torn future of the Terminator franchise. You have unlimited ammo and get different big guns that will help you on your way. The controls are pretty simple, the D-pad controls Robocop who can duck, climb ladders and hang off of horizontal pipes. The Y button shoots, A button changes between two guns, B and button jumps. The aiming could have done better with the L and R buttons, but it is good enough.

Because Robocop controls so stiffly, you need to shoot things before they hit you. This includes shooting bullets with certain guns. Robocop can take a good deal of punishment before he is dead. Speaking of death, you are given a password when you run out of lives if you want to end your game.

The graphics are great and even show a comic story between the gameplay as cut scenes. Every level is followed by a brief boss level before you have a change of scenery. Detroit streets go to an under construction high rise, that goes into a factory and into the future wasteland. The boss battles can go from using bullets to kill it to making a cyborg fall into a pit.

There is a great variety of enemies, everything from the normal one hit soldiers, to hanging guns, to evil cyborgs that are a lot tougher to kill, but you get better weapons to destroy them with. There are plenty of hazards such as electricity pits, flames from pipes and so on.

In all, this game has a lot of flair and a great vibe to it. If you can overlook the stiff controls and the difficulty because of the stiff controls this game can be fun in short bursts. It is probably the best side scrolling Terminator related game.

This game was difficult back in the day when I played it as a child. . . and nothing has changed. It is extremely difficult, perhaps one of the hardest games I've played on the SNES or ever! But it makes for accomplishing the final level all the more enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars SideshowBob's taste in games is what sucks October 10, 2013
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Ok the Genesis version is alot of fun the graphics are sharper and oh my god they bleed when I shoot them wow that's so amazing my heart just stopped lol Genesis version bloody Snes version no blood and that's the only point the Genesis version gets from me on to the gameplay you know GAMEPLAY the cornerstone of any great video game and how the Genesis version really ain't got any at least compared to the Snes version everything from the level layouts to the bosses are just much better here on the Snes rather than the rushed feel of the Genesis version Robocop vs. The Terminator on Snes just feels more thought out and complete that being said both versions are good games I own both but in my opinion the Snes version is by far the best well that's it from me and I hope this helps somebody along the way

Robocop Vs. Terminator for the snes is a very fun and addicting game. While the difficulty may be higher than the average game it does not hinder the fun. The premise is based on the comics of the same name. The thing about the snes version is that it is more cinematic (better story and comicbook cutscenes) and the sounds in my honest opinion are better. The blood is replaced with explosions and your enemies are blonde women in one piece leather suits with guns (NO JOKE), the terminators, and the ED-209 along with generic baddies and guards. all in all a great game that didn't get the hype that it deserved. 10/10

Classic game, still looks and plays decent. A word of warning, though-this game gets TOUGH. Early. I have never actually been able to beat it without cheat codes. Neca (an action figure company) has released an action figure line based solely on this game, so pick this up before the price goes through the roof.
