I've loved the AFRO-BETS children since I purchased an AFRO-BETS ABC book for my son, 26 years ago! As the mother of an African American child it was VERY important to me that my brown child see himself on the pages of books. The AFRO-BETS kids gave my brown crayon(I used it to color in the faces of non-brown kids in his other books)a rest! Now I'm buying them for my grandkids, nieces, nephews and anyone else with a beautiful, little, brown baby!

This book is wonderfully illustrated in lush colors. The text is also very clearly laid out and is obviously intended for preschoolers to identify letters and objects. My own son was able to recognize the shape of a star from the drawings. The only fault and its very minor is that Robo's favourite place turns out to be the "world wide web' somewhat worrying in view of the fact that children spend so little time in the fresh air as it is these days. I highly recommend this book nonetheless.
