3.0 out of 5 stars Okay.
Not as good as Robot Jox which is the first movie. Not as much action but is a hard find and would be nice in a collection of big fighting sci fi robots like Transformers. Not really worth it.

Metal against metal. Blow upon blow. Powerful arms reach out to grab and choke, electrifying lasers light up the sky as they ricochet off solid plates of steel.
The ultimate battle between metallic giants begins when a malicious foreign dignitary hijacks the last mega-robot on Earth, the MRAS-2, and threatens to unleash its crushing powers against the people of the Eastern Alliance. There's only one force magnificent enough to stop the MRAS-2, a MEGA-1 robot hidden under the city. It's up to renegade pilot (Don Michael Paul), his engineer (James Staley) and a brilliant archaeologist (Barbara Crampton) to revive the MEGA-1 and re-establish world peace.
Will the MEGA-1 be able to survive the onslaught of the new robot and its superior technology? A phenomenal battle lies ahead...

3.0 out of 5 stars I'll Take This "B" Movie Over A Coma Anyday, September 18, 2005
This review is from: Robot Wars [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I've seen hundreds of Sci Fi/Horror movies over the years. This is one of those you'll wonder whether you've watched it or not a few years down the road. You just can't remember.

All in all, I figure it's still better to watch a so-so Sci Fi/Horror movie than "Dances With Wolves" or "Evita". This movie will end up being non-memorable, but it's preferable to being in a coma.

3.0 out of 5 stars Robot Wars, February 8, 2011
This review is from: Robot Wars [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The future is run by greedy corporations who control the last remaining resources on Earth using giant mechanical defenders known as the Megarobots. When one of the devices is stolen, the Eastern Alliance must seek the help of their rogue pilots in order to locate and return the missing machine. ROBOT WARS is an unofficial sequel to Stuart Gordon's futuristic adventure ROBOT JOX, directed by famed B-movie producer Albert Band (father to Charles). It employs many of the same second-hand sets and miniatures that had been used in both ROBOT JOX and another spin-off, CRASH AND BURN. As is the case with many of the films he worked on, Dave Allen's impressive stop-motion animation and special effects take the center stage in this otherwise average Sci-Fi adventure. Barbara Crampton, Don Michael Paul, and Danny Kamekona turn out a few entertaining moments as well, but the plot often feels like an afterthought while the film prepares for the final battle between the two metal beasts. Still, there is a simple pleasure to be found in watching a giant mechanical scorpion battle an armed Mech, making ROBOT WARS a fun find for B-movie fans.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Robot Wars [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Such a crappy old movie, I had to buy it! Has nothing to do with "Robot Jox", crappy "special effects" and acting. Its one of those "I saw this movie, and it was worse than the movie you are complaining about" movies! I wish they had it on DVD though, that would have been even better!

Buy it! I think I paid next to nothing on it and when people look at your movie collection they go "what the heck is this?!?"

1.0 out of 5 stars Robot Wars a must not see, July 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Robot Wars [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie is not very well written in my opinion and is probably a good thing that it is priced so high. Most of it is uninportant dailog that seems to have little or no piont with no story or structure. There is alittle action at the end, but of poor qualaty. To make a long review short, it is basically like a bad episode of G.I Jeo.

3.0 out of 5 stars David Arkenstone soundtrack.., July 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Robot Wars [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The David Arkenstone soundtrack is really the best thing about this movie. The acting is passable, and the effects, while certainly better than BBC "Dr. Who" quality, could be better. If you like the "giant robot" genre, you'll probably like this.
