Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Gr. 7-up. Robotech was a popular Japanese anime series in the mid-1980s. This book is a prequel, following the pre-Robotech life of ace pilot Roy Fokker. Roy leaves his comfortable life of local fame in a small flying circus to join the military. He hates to leave behind his adoptive family, but the world is rife with war, and Roy feels duty-bound to serve. When the wars are cut short by the crash of an alien ship, Roy signs up to be a test pilot for the new United Earth Government. As he learns more about alien technology, he discovers there may be a larger conflict looming on the horizon. Fans of the original series will feel right at home here; they'll find the customary combination of action-adventure and soap opera continued, and they'll see familiar characters all over the place. What's more, this will grab even readers unfamiliar with Robotech; it skips the inside jokes and explanations that characterize prequels to many established series. Tina Coleman

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! Great!, February 6, 2007
This review is from: Robotech - From the Stars (Paperback)
I absolutly adore this. Finally after 20 years I got some answers of the future and some very nice insides about tha past of my favorite characters. I adore the drawings and the story line, it is a great buy, a "must" in your list of Robotech stuff. I just wish the book would be bigger, but it's ok that way. The color is really good, a great job from the creators AND a the answers I personally, was desperate to have about my favorite couples of the The Macross Saga.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good at filling in some of the gaps from the original series., March 25, 2010

This story from the Robotech universe is a really good story that fills in some of the gaps from the original series. You see a back story with Roy Folker and Claudia and, you also get a glimpse of what is going on with Rick Hunter and Lisa Hayes between the Macross saga and a Sentinel series.

4.0 out of 5 stars If only it were longer, January 2, 2009
This review is from: Robotech - From the Stars (Paperback)
I was unable to get this series when it was first produced as several issues of comics. I was happy to find it in a collected work. It's a great look into the days before the Zentraedi come to Earth and provides nice insight as to the going ons of the Earth political strife that still plagued humanity despite the arrival of the fortress. I just wish it was longer.
