5.0 out of 5 stars No strike here. Palladium scores a homerun., August 24, 2000

This review is from: Robotech Strike Force: Robotech Sourcebook #8 (Paperback)
In his introduction to Palladium Book's Robotech RPG Book Eight: Strike Force, writer/artist Wayne Breaux Jr. says: "Ten years ago, I was introduced to the most amazing visual experience I had yet seen in morning cartoons, Robotech! The show caught my attention purely by chance, and I was hooked. A short time later, I discovered role-playing games and stumbled upon a surprising advertisement for a Robotech role-playing game! I could not believe my good fortune and ordered a copy immediately. That was my introduction to Palladium Books. This book is a tribute to both Robotech and Palladium Books." As a tribute, Breaux succeeds with Strike Force.

As with other Robotech RPG books, Strike Force focuses on a particular region of the Robotech world. In this case, the region focused on is the Indochina Quadrant. The peoples, politics, cities and bases of the region are described and explained in detail. Also found in the book are 16 new prototype mecha, six new Occupational Character Classes, some new prototype armor and weapon systems, and an adventure that could easily spawn a long-term campaign. The adventure is called "Darkness Flowering." It's a 'gloomy, dark, foreboding adventure' that deals with the 'mythology of protoculture, and the war, oppression and violence that seem to follow it.'

Throughout its 104 pages, Breaux's writing in Strike Force is clear, crisp and exciting. His knowledge of the Robotech storyline (or variations thereof) and Palladium's Megaversal rules system is evident. Although set in the Macross part of the Robotech saga, options are given so that the information and adventure can be used in a Southern Cross, Invid Invasion, or Sentinels campaign. As an artist, Breaux is very gifted, as evidenced by the artwork in Strike Force; his mecha pictures are especially wonderful.

When Strike Force came out in 1995, publisher Kevin Siembieda said: "I think it's the best Robotech adventure sourcebook we've done in years!" I totally agree with him. If you give this book a chance, I'm sure you'll agree with him too.

For years Robotech has satisfied me with those great detailed plotline and great ideas. Thanks to this book, you can have an awsome RPG and u can find out lots of information on Robotech in general.

While maybe not the greatest of the Robotech sourcebooks it is up to previous books' standards. Too bad most of these books are out of print. :-(
