La Rochere, located in France, is the oldest continuous running glass factory in Europe. Opened in 1475 (17 years before Columbus came to the Americas, La Rochere has been producing glass. Each item is machine made in France at very high temperatures producing a glass the is both crystal clear and durable.. This heavy duty glass is sturdy and perfect for everyday use. It is both casual and elegant and dishwasher safe. The many embossed decors include the Napoleon bee, French royal Fleur de Lys, Dragonfly representing sping and rebirth, Versailles, which is developed from the palace at Versailles, or Perigord, the traditional lines and clarity from the Bordeaux region, each piece is a piece of French glass history.

Beautiful and very sturdy glasses. Look great on the table. They do have seams, however. This may bother some people, but I find it does not distract from the overall beauty of the glasses.

I've been looking for pretty wine glasses that aren't so fragile and will fit easily into the dishwasher. I agree with the other reviewer that the seam doesn't take away from their beauty, and they are easy to hold and are fun to use. I haven't seen any other glasses of this weight, size and design anywhere else. Also, the bee design is nice and adds to the charm of these glasses.

We received water glasses in the La Rochere bee pattern years ago from my mother-in-law, she brought them back from a trip to visit family in France. I ordered the wine goblets because out of 12 white and 12 red wine glasses received for our wedding 10 years ago, we're down to 5 each. I wanted replacements that would stand up over time. Our original La Rochere glasses (4 total) have had almost daily use for over 10 years and look like new. These wine goblets are a welcome addition to our table and a nice reminder of our much-missed family member.
