All Original Hits - Some Good, Some OK,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rock on 1970 (Audio CD)
The songs on this CD are all original hits. Green-Eyed Lady was one of my old favorites, and Venus and Gypsy Woman were also good hits. The rest were OK. The surprise was "The Thrill Is Gone" - I had never heard it before, but it is quite good.

Some Good, Some Bad,
This review is from: Rock on 1970 (Audio CD)
Any compilation that has B.B. King's "The Thrill Is Gone" can't be half-bad. But outside of Mr. King's lone top forty hit (which was actually released and peaked in 1969), the rest of Rock On's 1970 collection is mediocre. The Shocking Blues' number one hit "Venus" has an infectious guitar riff and Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit In The Sky" has a funky beat. There are some bad songs like Ray Steven's sickenly sweet "Everything Is Beautiful" and The Hollies' awful "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother".
