Ringing In 1979,
This review is from: Rock On 1979 (Audio CD)
Rock On's 1979 collection is a superb entry in this series. Hits abound starting off with the signature song from the year, The Knack's mega hit and ode to teen lust, the propulsive "My Sharona". Blondie's "Heart Of Glass" was new wave hit via the dance floor and is a classic. The Little River Band's "Lonesome Loser" is a great song as is Nicolette Larsen's cover of Neil Young's "Lotta Love", which she sang back up on Mr. Young's original version. Dr. Hook drags things down with their fingernails on the chalkboard "When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman". The Doobie Brothers raise the level again with their kinetic "Minute By Minute". "An American Dream" by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is a nice surprise and Cliff Richard contributes the catchy "We Don't Talk Anymore".

Many of the Top 40 Hits!,

This review is from: Rock On 1979 (Audio CD)
For many of us, it will bring back all of those high school memories when listening to the radio in 1979. One song in particular had alway evaded my collection, "Different Worlds" by Maureen McGovern. This is the opening song to the short-lived sitcom "Angie" with Donna Pescow. Though the sitcom was a bust, the song is a standout. For those wanting to capture the year that was 1979, this is the CD to buy!

Hard to find Cliff Richard,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rock On 1979 (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD for one song that I didn't have in my collection "We Don't Talk Anymore" by Cliff Richard. It was worth the money just to obtain this song and it brings back memories of the time. However, if you listen to the samples they are from another CD. Mistake, I guess, but you do get the cover songs. Dr. Hook is always a pleasure but I have several recordings of their music.
