Another from Rock On Series, June 2, 2001
This review is from: Rock On: 1982 (Audio CD)
Madacy has released a great selection of 80s music through the Rock On Series. Unfortunatley this 1982 collection is not up to their usual standard. The songs presented here don't actually represent the 1982. As there are better known and better songs outthere to be included as the best of 1982. Disappointing selections but the songs here are not too bad. For the price it is still worth considering.

1982 Rocks, August 28, 2001
This review is from: Rock On: 1982 (Audio CD)
Rock On's 1982 collection is another first rate compilation. The album opens with Toni Basil's classic number one cheerleading song "Mickey". The J. Geils Band's "Freeze Frame" is a fun song with a memorable keyboard riff. The Motels' "Only The Lonely" has a film noir quality to it and supergroup Asia's "Heat Of The Moment" is a great rocker. The Stray Cats evoke the ghosts of 50's rockers on the hell raising "Rock This Town" and Foreigner aim for glory with their rousing "Jukebox Hero". Quarterflash's "Harden My Heart" has a moody sound while Juice Newton laughs at love's heartaches in the fluffy "Love Been A Little Bit Hard On Me". The Little River Band's "The Other Guy" isn't one of their best, but it is still decent. Paul Davis' "'65 Love Affair" is a bouncy trip down memory lane about a long ago teenage relationship. Ray Parker, Jr. shows off his guitar skills on the fiery "The Other Woman" and Patrice Rushen closes out the album with the pumping "Forget Me Nots" which Will Smith heavily sampled on his hit "Men In Black".
