1983 is Pure Fun, August 13, 2001
This review is from: Rock on 1983 (Audio CD)
Rock On's 1983 collection combines superstars with classic 80's one hit wonders. David Bowie opens up the album with his number one smash "Let's Dance" which has a funky bass line and some wicked guitar licks courtesy of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan. Keyboard techno-wiz Thomas Dolby serves up the funny "She Blinded Me With Science" and Naked Eyes contributes the melodic "Always Something There To Remind Me". The Fixx had their lone top ten hit with "One Thing Leads To Another" and Pat Benatar shows off more of a pop side with "Love Is A Battlefield". Boy George & Culture Club hit number with the faux Dixieland sound of "Karma Chameleon". Quirky Bay area rockers The Tubes had their only top ten hit with the melodic "She's A Beauty". Air Supply join forces with Meatloaf cohort Jim Steinman on the theatrical "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" and one of the ultimate 80's one hit wonders Kajagoogoo show up with "Too Shy". Sheena Easton's "Telefone" is passable and The Motels close out the album with the dark & dreamy "Suddenly Last Summer".

BEWARE - Defective CDs! (13jan08), January 13, 2008
This review is from: Rock on 1983 (Audio CD)
This is not a review of the REAL CD because I have yet to receive a GOOD one. Two shipments of this disc have yielded PROPERLY labeled CDs (case and disc), but the tracks burned on the CD are totally wrong... some Various Artist jazz compilation. I'm trying a third time and will post the result as soon as it arrives. This is as of 13jan08.

Ahh.... the 80's, November 8, 2003
This review is from: Rock on 1983 (Audio CD)
I think that 1983 was one of the best years of the 1980's, metal was starting to become really big although it would've been nice of them to put Quiet Riot's remake of Slade's Cum on Feel the Noise which went #5 in the fall of 1983, and the same with Police, Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie cause they were the biggest artists of that year, I'm glad that they didn't put Styx's Mr. Roboto on this CD.
