I saw Rock of Ages both off and on Broadway and totally loved this very original and creative rock concert-Broadway musical. Though I was looking forward to the cast album, I was not anticipating a recording that completely re-invents the actual theater experience, but New Line Records and Rock of Ages have brilliantly managed to do just that, thanks to the well-chosen bits of actual dialogue from the play, d'Arienzo's clever musical book and the outstanding talents of the cast.
Break out your wine coolers, order in some 'delicious Arbys' and be prepared for a rawking 80's good time with this extremely well done Broadway cast recording.

After seeing the show four times I could not wait for this to come out and I'm happy to say I am not disappointed. Everyone's singing is so tight, the dialogue that ties the music to the scenes is priceless, and it's very true to the story--like being at the show again! Especially enjoy the songs with James Carpinello (as Stacee Jaxx) where he channels his inner rock star! Someone not familiar with the play might be wondering what the chit-chat is about, but if you've been lucky enough to see it (or just love the 80s), you will LOVE LOVE LOVE this cast recording.

We are soooo excited to get this CD! It's already available on iTunes and it is fantastic! Constantine's voice resonates with such rich clarity. The entire cast does a fantastic job, and by listening to the songs in the order listed here, you can close your eyes and be back at the show instantly. And if you haven't seen the show yet, GET THERE! Congratulations to the Cast of ROA for their 5 Tony nominations, and especially to Constantine for his Nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical! Can't wait till June 7th to see if he wins it!

I saw the Broadway show in mid-July, just a couple of months after it had opened. The show is one of the most enjoyable Broadway productions I've ever attended, with a great cast ensemble, collection of 80's music, and very funny. Everyone left the theater in high spirits. The CD does an excellent job of bringing the show back to life. Adding dialogue from the show in the soundtrack is a very nice touch and many of the musical arrangements are more fun to listen to than the versions from the original artists. If you're in NYC, by all means see the show. You won't be disappointed.

The CD was as good as the play. Go see the play and then buy the CD. Have fun, it is worth spending money on both.

Rock of Ages was such an awesome CD! It includes some of the most popular songs from the 80s and early 90s, all of which I actually knew. From the very first track I was singing along, and track after track, I felt like I went back in time...

My favorite track is Heaven/More Than Words/To Be With You. This also happens to be one of DH's favorite tracks. He also likes I Hate Myself For Loving You/Heat of the Moment and High Enough.

The story the Rock of Ages' musical tells is a funny and heart-warming love story (the liner notes include the entire script from the musical), but I really think the songs are what really makes Rock of Ages so popular.

Who could ever have imagined that songs by Poison or Twisted Sister, or titled Wanted Dead or Alive and Hit Me With Your Best Shot, would be an integral part of one of the best musicals in recent years.

If you grew up in the 80s, you're going to love this CD. Even if you don't like musicals, I'm sure you'll find yourself singing along to most, if not all, of the tracks, and you too will find yourself reminiscing.

DH and I love the Rock of Ages CDs, and we both hope to one day be able to watch the Broadway Performance!

I first saw the cast of Rock of Ages perform at the 2009 Tony Awards and was completely taken over. I am an 80s song fanatic and was absolutely shocked that some of the songs on this cd were made into a musical. This is a must have for 80s fans and Musical lovers alike! You will definately be singing along in no time after just a few minutes of listening to this CD! I highly recomended it!

This album took me back in time to big hair, leg warmers, and fluorescent colors. The songs are some of my favorite 80's hits and I like the remix that the soundtrack has from the Broadway show. My kids thought I lost it a little more as I turned the volume up loud and rocked the day away. I was thrilled that I was able to share some classic rock with them. If you are looking for a CD with some of your favorite 80 hits then you definitely want to check out Rock of Ages.

Having just seen this on broadway, I immediately picked up this soundtrack. Not only did I find the musical to be awesome but the cd is just as good! Whie "Mr. Musicman" may disagree I find the performances and songs to be heartfelt and sincere. The 80's songs fit in perfect with the touching love story. If you love the 80's or just enjoy listening to a great musical definitely pick this cd up!

This recording captures the atmosphere quite well, and having loved the Australian production which I saw a few weeks ago, I was pleased to hear many of the voices on the Broadway recording are fairly similar - makes for a good souvenir that way.

Only one disappointment though.. why no David Coverdale introduction on the CD? For some reason you only get it with the Amazon Download (and iTunes) versions. It just gives it that little extra something having him prepare you to "enjoy having your face melted" :)
