It's no secret that the Rock Band drum pedal is prone to breaking. If you play the drums on Hard, with its inclusion of quarter notes in songs like Paranoid and others, you are almost guaranteed to break the thing at some point.

I had already broken my pedal once and had gone through the process of sending it back. It was no fun. Furthermore, the replacement, which works, still is as structurally weak as the original item. As I progressed to harder and harder tunes, I could feel the pedal readying to break... again.

Then, I found this product (insert Heavenly music). I bought it and it arrived in whiplash-inducing time. Instructions were easy to follow and installation was a breeze. More than that, the thing works. The hinge now feels sturdy under my feet and the pedal now can take a lickin' and keep on kickin'!!! When friends come over to play on my kit, I don't worry that one of them might accidentally break the thing. For the piece of mind this gives, it was a bargain.

This modification is a gift from the gods....the gods of Rock!

I, like many others, enjoy banging on the skins of the drum kit in Rock Band. And, like many others, my pedal snapped under the extreme pressure from the demand of righteous rock.

Simply follow the detailed instructions that are included with kit and you are good to go in under 30 minutes. All you truly need is a phillips screwdriver and a sharp instrument to remove the original hinge pin (Your Sharon Stone autographed ice pick from "Basic Instinct" should do nicely).

The finished product is a sturdy and stylish pedal that will allow you to enjoy those hard and expert songs with confidence. It will be great for your Rock Band parties...just remember to double check it is still there when everyone is leaving lol.

This product is well worth the investment in both cost and time!!

I bought Rock Band on day one, at midnight, at a Wal-Mart. I took it to my friends house, I played until 9 A.M. the next morning. My pedal actually lasted from Nov. 20th until right around Dec. 15 or so. So, it almost made it a month.

I sent my original pedal in and had a replacement pretty soon after. The 2nd pedal that I received used thicker plastic and a shorter spring. When I say shorter, I mean it had less coils than the original spring. This new spring put less pressure on the plastic pedal than the original spring. This definitly helps to keep the plastic from breaking but I can still feel the pedal bending under my foot when I play.

I was a bit worried my pedal might break again. I read many reviews comparing this item, the "Pedal Metal," to the "Mega Pedal." The "Mega Pedal" is purely a copy-cat item released after the "Pedal-Metal" came out. Not only does it look cheaper, there is no attempt at fixing the weakest part of the pedal; the hinge. I decided to get the most protection for my pedal as possible.

The item shown here removes the original hinge included in the original Rock Band pedal and instead uses a thin sheet of Fiber-Glass to hold the pedal in place. So instead of putting loads of presure on the hinge of the pedal you're putting pressure on a bendable piece of fiberglass, which is pretty much guaranteed not to break. Seriously, it's going NOWEHER. It's a bit hard to explain but let me just say that it WORKS LIKE A CHARM.

Honestly, Pedal-Metal mean business. I ordered mine on a Friday and had it by Monday, i'm sure if I ordered it on a weekday i'd have it in two days time. Seriously, the drum set just looks that much more serious with this pedal attached. And it feels so much better to. I can honestly stomp on the pedal if I feel like it without even giving a second thought to anything breaking. It's virtually indestructible, and I mean that.

If you're even passively considering purchasing this item for your drum set, just do it. You'll never play Rock Band drums the same again.

I bought this kit about a month ago. The install was relatively easy (required a little muscle). The pedal felt great, I was finally able to let loose on it without fear of breaking it (after having already broken 3 normal pedals).

Unfortunately a week ago I could hear the plastic hinge starting to crack. It was loud and very clear it was on its way out. The hinge finally broke all the way through last night. I feel the original hinge Rock Band shipped would have lasted longer than this plastic piece I replaced it with. Now I'm stuck again.

I was hoping for some piece of mind from never having to worry about this stupid pedal again. This product may not be the answer.

I was worried that, upon getting this, I might have difficulties installing it or that it would even fit or function properly.

I'm happy to say that it was a very smooth installation and that I'm rocking away on my drums even better than I was originally.

Installation was documented well on the included sheets, but you definitely need some elbow-power to get the screws in. It's a bit like drilling without a power drill. Not impossible, but it took about 15 minutes and my hand was tired when I was done.

Post installation, the pedal looks great and operates VERY well. I'm actually able to pump the pedal harder than before.

Just one quick note: If you own an after-market pedal, such as the one offered by Rock Head Hit Kit, this will NOT fit. It's made for the original pedal.

I'm no hardcore rocker. I'm actually a 43 yr old housewife that loves to be the drummer of our family Rockband! When my foot pedal cracked I searched the garage for sometype of "band-aid" to repair it. With limited resources, I wasn't able to fix it. I called Rockband and they informed me that there were many types of accessory items available on the internet. I researched and read all of the reviews and found that the PEDAL METAL BILLET was the one that I wanted. It arrived faster than stated on my purchase and was very easy to install. I did it myself! Because of the ridges on the Wii footpedal, I did however, drill ever so tiny pilot holes for the self tapping screws. This ensured that the pedal overlay was aligned with the original plastic pedal beneath for all 7 screws. I am back in business and enjoy drumming and playing Rockband with my family.

If you play drums on Rock Band, you will break your bass drum pedal. Notice I didn't say "you may break your bass drum pedal." That's because you will break it...even if you don't really play your Rock Band drums that hard (like me) it will break. Mine broke in about six weeks.

Don't waste your time waiting six weeks for a replacement plastic pedal (which will break again someday) or put up $125 of your money to EA to hold while they wait for you to ship your broken one back. 'Cause that's your only other option when your pedal breaks.

So before it does (or even after it does - the Pedal Metal will work with a broken pedal too)...buy the Pedal Metal Billet with Hinge (I really recommend you pop the extra $10 and get the whole shebang, hinge and all). After that...you'll never worry about your bass drum pedal again. Stomp on it all you want...whether you want to be Neil Peart, Travis Barker, Tommy Lee, or Tommy Igoe...it won't matter to your new bass drum pedal. And if by some weird chance you break the new metal hinge...Pedal Metal will replace the hinge for free.

Besides...it looks cool too.

The only negative thing I can say about the Pedal Metal Rock Band Bass Pedal Repair is that I didn't think of it first...

Not only does this prevent/repair broken pedals, it makes them a lot easier to play. The pedal hinge action (stupid pin replaced by flexible plastic sheet) is more responsive, and feels like it can handle 3X the weight as the original. The larger metal platform adds weight, and reinforces the pedal from bending (can't feel it bend anymore with this). The added weight helps by keeping the pedal from jumping off the floor between beats, and makes it feel more (not totally) like a real kick pedal. This is the "full" repair kit, as it includes the hinge replacement. Get this upgrade kit, you won't regret it!

P.S. It works on broken pedals in most cases I'd say. A broken platform or broken hinge can be fixed by applying this upgrade. If you broke the base, you will probably have to order a new pedal first.

This is a MUST HAVE for any expert drum player. I was one of those who thought my flimsy plastic pedal would never break on me, and after 4 months it finally snapped. This is a great investment and it does not break your wallet at all.

why wait 3-6 weeks for a new pedal from EA when you can wait less then a week to rock out again.
