Slightly Disappointing,

This review is from: Rock Band Track Pack: Vol. 2 (Video Game)
First, I should say that if you liked the first Rock Band and you liked Track pack volume one (for the Wii), you will most likely enjoy this too. The game play is EXACTLY the same.
For some reason with this particular installment of Rock Band, the game doesn't fit the TV screen of our console-style TV(not HDTV). It's too big... Why does that matter? It's a lot harder to tell when you are missing the notes. The very bottom row of buttons (that glow red when you miss the note) are hidden in the depths of your TV screen. It tends to fit the screen a bit better when you are playing solo. We tried calibrating our system to see if that would help with the screen problem, but it didn't help... Which leads me to my second complaint, the calibration is a pain in the butt. It is much different than RB and the first track pack (where you just selcet the type of TV you have and you are done). This track pack is much more "deluxe" in the calibration. You choose the drums or guitar to beat or strum during your calibration, but it's unclear if you are supposed to do it at the EXACT same time as you hear the beat or if you are supposed to do it right after. Then, after you have re-calibrated, there is no way to go back to the defalt settings through the Rock Band Menu. You have to go all the way out of the game, and go into your Wii menu and delete everything saved under that title. (meaning you loose ALL of your bands, scores, unlocked songs, etc) My third complaint is that the songs aren't as clean. It seems like there are more songs that swear and have questionable subject matter than in the first RB and the first track pack. Bottom line: I'm glad we have 20 new songs to play, but I'm disapointed in the way the game fits the screen and the calibration. I'm not as happy with the songs either. Songs included in this track pack: Avenged Sevenfold: Afterlife, Blondie: Call me, Weezer: El Scorcho, Devo: Girl U Want, Maximo Park: Girls Who Play Guitars, Disturbed: Indestructable, Angels and Airwaves: It Hurts, The Cars: Just What I Needed, The Police: Message in a Bottle, Pixies: Monkey Gone to Heaven, Duran Duran: Rio, Motley Crue: Saints of Los Angeles, Lynyrd Skynrd: Simple man, Red Hot Chili Peppers: Snow (Hey Oh), Nine Inch Nails: The Perfect Drug, Fall Out Boy: This Ain't a Scene, Papa Roach: Time is running out, Garbage: Why Do You Love Me, Judas Priest: You've Got Another Thing Comin', Smashing Pumpkins: Zero

This is the second track pack with 20 new songs but the songs are rougher in content and more for the adult audience as for the language. You get some real good songs but mixed in is a few not so good songs for the younger ones. I know it is for teens and up but some of the words in some of these songs arent fit for adults. I guess that once you unlock all the songs by playing them once you dont have to play the ones you dont like. For the most part it is a good disc if you just skip over those few songs. This is just my opinion and as you know everyone has one so the songs I dislike you might enjoy.

Does not work with Guitar Hero Peripherals,

It's just more songs for Rock Band, but the description is wrong. This game is not compatible with Guitar Hero peripherals. You must have the Rock Band specific guitar and drums to play this game. Also Wii owners BEWARE: There is no song export on the Wii.

Ordered this along with Classic Rock Track Pack Volume 1... Volume 1 works just fine w/our WII system ... this one ONLY ALLOWS you to use VOCALS and Microphone !!! No where on the package does it say that, there was no reason for us to believe that's all it did. We have several versions of others that work just fine, but this one, labeled shipped as brand new from seller, never worked for us. We are returning it and better get full refund.

Don't own it, not worth buying,

Let me start off by saying that I own a Wii system. From what I understand, other systems have an option that allows you to download the songs purchased on a track pack for play in Rockband 2. The Wii does not allow this. I don't see the point of buying these track packs when all the songs are available for download and use in the Rockband 2 game. I would just as soon buy the songs individually and be able to play them with the others in the Rockband 2 game. It certainly is cheaper to buy the track pack, but in my opinion the game play on these just isn't as good as the Rockband 2 experience.
Now, if they would make some way that I can download the songs from the track packs and integrate them into Rock band 2? This then would become a great, and affordable, product.

A great addition of songs but it's hard to synch to the tv. The options given don't adequately cover it. BUt the songs are good, but include some that I don't listen to. The nice thing is that you don't have to earn them.

This Rock Band game is probably the top one I play out of all the RB & GH games I have. It has awesome favorite songs, including what I believe is the all-time best song on any RB or GH, Judas' Priest's "You got another thing coming". Also, the Lynard Skynard, Cars, Police, Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. are awesome. Great game & value.

We were a little late to the party when it came to buying Rock Band/Guitar Hero/Band Hero and the like. We own the Wii and have been searching for quite some time to find Rock Band for the console. We finally opted to buy the Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock set because we basically needed equipment and most of the games didn't care what the equipment was from. Unfortunately, this one seems to care. Even though it is listed as being compatible with the Guitar Hero WoR set up, it is not. The only thing that has worked for us has been the mic. That being said, I can look at it as a cheap karaoke but it is definitely a let down that we're not able to do the drums and guitar. The music is a great variety for us and like I said, if we look at it as a cheap karaoke disc, the sting isn't so bad.
On another note, the case for the disc was broken when we received it. This might have something to do with the seller sending it to us in a bubble envelope with absolutely nothing else included to protect the case/disc.

My wife has the Karaoke Revolution (& American Idol sub-branded) games and USB microphones for the Wii. We do not have any Band/Hero instruments otherwise. So I know how much my wife likes to sing, and these songs on this track pack are most in her style, especially Fall Out Boy, Weezer & the Pixies. And as opposed to the songs on the American Idol games that I do not know, I can even sing the aforementioned songs, and Blondie and Smashing Pumpkins too.
And so, the crux of my review is, that the microphones from Karaoke Revolution are compatible with this Rock Band Track Pack, the songs are fun to sing, and if we ever do want to buy and play instruments, it is a natural introduction to the genre.

Since I've never had any compatibility issues between my Band Hero/Guitar Hero instruments and the Rock Band games I was upset to find that this piece of trash only worked with the microphone. It also doesn't fit the screen correctly, which is just about the lamest lameness I've ever seen laming up the place. DON'T BUY IT!
