I found this to be a quick and easy guide. Many instructional books are filled with a lot of extra information and never get to the point. In "Rock Bass Lines" I was able to get right to the heart of playing. The CD provided was exceptional in that it played each song four times. In this way I was able to hear the song with and without the bass line. It is really an incredible teaching tool. I plan on purchasing other editions by Joe Santerre.

This book is all about playing rather than learning scales and theory. Starting off with simple 4 to the bar stuff and builing up to quite complex bass lines at the end. Lots of practice pieces and a CD to hear what it's like. Good primer for practice, but not a system on it's own. This is practice material for Grade 1 up to about Grade 5.
