is wrong! *This* is where it all started. These are wonderful, energetic cuts, all quite properly described as "rock & roll" even though the term surely didn't exist when the songs were recorded. A must for amateur rock historians, or for jump blues / boogie-woogie fans.

This compilation puts together in one place the best of the rocking R&B recordings from the years 1949 to 1953, immediately before rock and roll got famous. These are not blues recordings, this is real rock and roll!
