My son was interested in growing rock candy crystals, so I took the lazy way out and bought this kit...Big mistake!! The kit comes with prepared sticks that are said to incourage the crystal growth on the stick. Didn't work.. most of the crystals stuck to the inside of the jar. We ended up trashing the kit and going to ehow to learn the at home method involving the (basically) free toothpick/string and jar. Save your money and buy a good brand of sugar.

This kit contains pure sucrose which I have found hard to find in bulk. The kit is self-contained, consistently grows wonderful crystals, and is invaluable in the classroom. At 9.99 USD it is worth the cost. Highly recommended
