Springtime in the Rockies. It's fickle. Today shards of snow fill the air, sweeping across greening lawns, obscuring the mountains. Yesterday was opposite. The temperature climbed to 78 degrees, the parched air bending last summer's dried grasses. As the season has slowed changed from winter to summer, I've been busy writing, photographing, and rock climbing.

In late January I began putting together a climbing website at About.com, a massive compendium of information on almost every topic you can think of. It's owned by the New York Times Company, so yeah, it's reputable. The site went live in mid-March. I'm adding new content pages every week as well as post interesting info in my blog there. This week I've been writing about the slow progress of the Olympic torch as the Chinese tote it up the North Ridge of Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world. Anyway, I urge you to visit the site and learn about rock and mountain climbing. Here's a link:  http://climbing.about.com/

Today, May 1, my latest book Rocky Mountain National Park Pocket Guide is being released. It's part of a series of interpretative pocket-sized guides published by Globe Pequot Press/FalconGuides to the best and most visited National Parks in the United States. My book offers lots of info on geology, natural history, and things to do. And of course my photographs illustrate the park in all its colorful glory. Here's a link to it here at Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/Rocky-Mountain-National-Pock et-Guide/dp/0762748087/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books& qid=1209673215&sr=1-4
