It seems I've been waiting for almost 2 years for this record to come out, maybe just one, but it was worth the wait. The EP by the band I liked albeit being very short and perhaps not enough to get a real grasp on what they could do. I gave this one 5 stars because of the bonus DVD that comes with it, otherwise just the 10 songs here I would have had to give it 4 for being rather short also by todays standards of 12-13 or so songs per CD.
This one is just Dirty Rock I guess you'de call it. It has some elements of new lead singer Kory Clarke's older bands that chime in from time also. Like on the song "Just A Star" I hear a definite Warrior Soul feel, and they even do a studio version of "Cities, Scenes, and Thieves" that was also on Kory's other short lived band Space Age Playboy's CD "Live In London"; and really I prefer the live version much better still, although this one is great also. Just read the track titles and you get the feel of what this band is about though, aside from some typical Kory Clarke...and it is really good to hear him ranting a bit again on a song like "Rock Did It" just makes you give the finger to the corporate world. Then again, songs like "Suck It", "Drunk Again", "Hot Porno Star", "If You See Kaye", and "Pennsyltuckey" pretty much show you the vibe of this record. Good hard rock with more than a healthy dose of sleaze. Great for cranking on a summer day, and all summer night long!

I saw this band play a show with a friend's band, and they were great. They are probably the drunkest band I have seen in my entire life. I picked up the cd, and it was great. The best song by far is "Suck It".

This album just screams dirty rock n roll. The opening track "Suck It" is just a cool song to listen to. One of the coolest things about this album are the lyrics, every song has something about it that will hook to you. At the end of the day, it's not anything that will put a huge dent in rock music, but you will have a fun time listening to it.

After the fall of Warrior Soul, K.C. formed the short-lived Space Age Playboys & even released a solo record called "Opium Hotel." But it wasn't until his enlistment into Dirty Rig, that Mr. Clarke returned to form. Some W. Soul fans were disappointed with some of that band's later releases, because he was putting out less and less political/social commentary songs and more bar-rock style trash. But that was always a part of his persona and make-up. Half CNN-junkie, half gutter-punk. And Dirty Rig is all about booze, dope, dirty motel rooms & even dirtier women. And this album flat-out rocks! Especially the first half. Song titles such as "Suck It," "Drunk Again," "Dogs" and "Throw Down" show you were K.C. and his band-mates were coming from and where they were gonna end up: in a coffin, in the gutter or in the penitentiary. Ten tracks with Clarke sounding like he's done more dope, drank more booze, slept with more women, gotten less sleep & screamed his lungs out more than is humanly possible over the last decade. Bonus DVD on the U.S. edition has 7 live songs. Clapton wasn't a God, Kory Clarke is!

It's nice to hear Korey sing again, BUT....,
This review is from: Rock Did It (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
I was excited to hear that Korey Clarke was singing in a new band since I loved his last two bands the SPACE AGE PLAYBOYS and WARRIOR SOUL, and I think Korey is one of Rock's greatest vocalists/front men. However, I was disappointed upon hearing this band DIRTY RIG... as someone else said, it seems Korey has joined a bar band. It's okay rock music I suppose, but nothing special--just generic, mediocre rock riffs that we've all heard a thousand times before played by musicians who aren't really that good. While Korey's vocals are great and all (still gritty and nasty sounding with an 80's buttrock vibe), the lyrics do suck for the most part. I mean, he sings about being drunk and living in a trailer park. Hmmm... okay. The song "like a Star" seems to be the one gem on this CD, but I think korey could have done a LOT better than this and I personally will NOT be buying this album unless it's listed for under a dollar.

Kory Clarke, in my opinion, is a great performer and songwriter. i was very surprised to see that he joined this band. But, i didnt think he would throw his abilities to the wind by joining a bar band! Dont get me wrong, this cd has a few rockin tracks that go great with a few beers, but definately not in the same league as Warrior Soul or even Space Age Playboys.
If you are a WS fan or a fan of Kory Clarke's 'Opium Hotel' cd, dont bother with this. It is not deep on any level, and definately not political. But if you just want some rocking background music, this is ok..

More of a step back than a new direction,
By
This review is from: Rock Did It (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
More of a step back than a new direction as compared to their last effort Blood, Sweat & Beer. It's not that it's a bad record, not at all. It's just that it's different. The band have taken a more unrefined and raw approach to their sound. The still keep their rock wits about them with songs about, chicks, drugs, and beer. I still can't believe that's Kory Clarke from Warrior Soul on vocals. This is not how I remember him. If you want to get down and dirty, Rock Did It is the way to go.
