This review is from: Rock Magnetism: Fundamentals and Frontiers (Cambridge Studies in Magnetism) (Paperback)
This book is the best of its kind! Scientifically rigorous, easily understandable, exceptionally comprehensive and has much useful information.
It covers the basics of magnetism through to fine details of rock/soil magnetism. This subject is complex and it does take a book of its length of 600 pages to cover it. The book is well written and concise. It is possibly atypical of books of this nature in that it concentrates more on maths and the physics, rather than "environmental" aspects. It does not include the geology of rock/soil formation etc, nor related subjects such as ferrofluids, industrial ferrites etc, nor measurement techniques. Rather, it sticks to the subject and for this reason is exceptionally comprehensive. |
