5.0 out of 5 stars Teddybears STHLM has made the party album of the year, October 2, 2000

This review is from: Rock N Roll Highschool (Audio CD)
After starting out as a pretty one dimensional hardcore band with a record setting pace to their beat, Teddybears STHLM redefines what evolving one's music is all about. On their new album "Rock'n'Roll Highschool" they mix all kinds of different styles; rock, synthpop, reggae, and hip/hop to mention a few (and no, this is not dance music...). Still the album sounds like a unique style instead of a haphazard mix of genres. It is hard to put a label on this style, but one could say it is a kind of party-friendly, happy-making mix of Massive Attack, The Propellerheads, and Cypress Hill (maybe a dash of Crystal Method too).

There are more than one highlight on this album; I would actually say that there are only good songs on this album with maybe one or two exceptions. The exceptions are not bad, just not as good as the others.

My personal favorites would be the title track, "Rock'n'Roll Highschool", and the amazing Police kinda sounding "Yours to Keep".

I would strongly recommend this album to anyone who likes the above mentioned styles of music, but also to anyone that would want to listen to something completely new. This is truly the party album of the year!

They released fresh in 2004 which i think is a better album. They dont have it at amazon unfortunately.

if you like Yours to keep you should get Paola's solo album Stockcity girl. It is one of the best in a long time...

Alas you have to get it from overseas...

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best swedish albums in a long time, October 4, 2000
This review is from: Rock N Roll Highschool (Audio CD)
This album rocks!!! On all levels. Teddybears STHLM gets help from Swedish artists like Eagle Eye Cherry, rapper Thomas Rusiak and other less known Swedish artists. The album features hits like rock 'n roll high school which is a rocker you might find it difficult not to put on repeat. Other songs have reggae and cool techno influences -- the beats are just incredibly contagious and uplifting. You will not regret buying this one.
