5.0 out of 5 stars Rock N' Roll Racing: A Shreddingly Spectacular Racer April 30, 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Rock N' Roll Racing is a prime example of "simple is best". There's no epic story to follow, no complex control scheme to master, and no open world to explore; it's just pure reckless racing that everyone can enjoy. It was one of Blizzard Entertainment's early games and their knack for creating unique and addictive games was already evident. When it comes to 16-bit racers, this game is my personal favorite over the better known Super Mario Kart and F-Zero.

The gameplay is fast, vicious and immensely satisfying. It's also quite addicting - you won't be able to play just one race, trust me. The main part of the game is racing your tricked-out vehicle in a multitude of races on six different planets. Each planet has a resident racer and a theme, such as lava, sand, or Alien-style similar to the final stage of Contra. There are corresponding road hazards on each track as well, such as magma pits and slime that slows you down. Your vehicle is highly customizable and can be upgraded with more powerful weapons/armor, a faster engine, and better shocks and tires. These actually enhance your car instead of being just for show, giving the game a slight strategic element. Weapons range from front-mounted lasers and missile launchers to rear-mounted dispensers that lay mines and "slip sauce" (oil). You also have boosters or jump jacks similar to the Mach 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG A MUST HAVE December 27, 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I remember renting this game over and over and over. It never got old. My friend and I had non stop fun playing this game. Being able to race and blow each other up, and on top of that some really kick a@# music.

This game alone is the only reason I would buy a SNES

If you don't like this game there is something wrong with you, that or you suck and don't have any friends to play with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure fun at its best July 26, 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The idea in itself is great. Racing with guns and other weapons to destroy your opponents while racing. That in itself is not fun but for a few mins. But they go one step further and add prize money and upgrades to the mix. This to me is what makes the game so fun. So many choices, all useable in one way or another.

The soundtrack is obviously awesome, but that should be a given.

Controls are pretty good, doesnt take but a few laps to get a good handle on it.

Anyone who is familar with the company BLIZZARD should know they only make top notch games. It says Interplay, but when you put it in it says, Interplay, and then Blizzard. So they had a part in the making of it which pretty much means its garunteed to be among the greatest. And it is, I assure you.
