4.0 out of 5 stars A charming, witty, honest read about one man's journey......, November 18, 2003
By
This review is from: Rock Odyssey: A Chronicle of the Sixties (1960's) (Paperback)
This book was...well, it was a great read. Mr. Whitcomb describes His 1960s odyssey in great detail, with the honesty and ignorance of an outsider. It has heartbreaks and troubles, and miniature and near triumphs, at least that seems to be how the author sees some episodes in His life. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to know what the music scene in the early 1960s was like from a non-hippie across-the-pond musician point-of-view, anyone who likes good, true stories, and also to anyone with a sense of humour.

4.0 out of 5 stars in the top ten of 60's pop culture, January 12, 1998

This review is from: Rock Odyssey: A Chronicle of the Sixties (1960's) (Paperback)
If Oscar Wilde had knocked off a couple of chart-busting smasheroonis then this would be his account of the repercussions from sudden fame and the resulting crash at the bottom of the downward slope. Mr.Whitcomb has happily combined an hilarious account of his own unexpected 15 minutes along with a witty and erudite look at the pop star world of the British Invasion,C.1965.
