Mister Parentin, issued an introduction to a far more complex phenomenon such as 70s Italian progressive rock. His overall socio-historical or aesthetic analysis is quite good, though not always deep (but then, I must confess, the book would have missed the main point, that is to say a quite comprehensive musical analysis of the phenomenon). Sometimes he relies on previous judgements and misses the chance to give the due relevance to some works; other times he follows the mainstream or risks to give too much relevance to marginal sub-phenomena no one had ventured to take into consideration in previous books on the same subject (the regional map of most of the groups mentioned, including some very unfortunate or unknown ones!). Maybe a better editing and lay-out or some pictures, from time to time, could have given the book a wider commercial and alluring perspective(surely the budget was not so high!)and make the contents acquire higher levels of reading pleasure. Maybe next time. Well I hope so.

Only to say that this book tries to explain the history mixed with social history of what happened in the gold years of italian progressive music, know in Italy as "italian pop" or "pop italiano". Recommended.

OK. But a little too inconsistent in the textual layout. Should be edited better. Interesting facts for the allready interested.

this is ok but there's too much concentrating on the lyrical content of the albums listed. not enough passionate writing about the music. some nice quotes and interesting history though.

Good introduction with a strong focus on the story and words - less on the music itself. Great overview of 100 CDs.
