5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Experience, February 21, 2000
This review is from: The Rock & The Rabbi (Audio CD)
Last night, my wife and I attended a performance of The Rock and the Rabbi at Immanuel Church in Largo, FL. The music is only surpassed by the message. If you like acoustic guitar, bagpipes, percussion, fiddle and squeezbox, you will find the album entertaining and very moving. I am purchasing 10 copies and plan to send it to many of our close friends. The message doesn't get lost in the music and it is clearly a message for all. The show is headed for the Reinman Auditorium in Nashville in March, and is a candidate for Broadway. I think it would be a killer evening for anyone attending. I didn't think the CD would capture the evening, but it came close. You just can't single out a star in this one. All vocals and instrumentals are fabulous. Take a chance on it! Dave

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the BEST presentation of the Gospel I will ever hear, September 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Rock & The Rabbi (Audio CD)
This CD is excellent!!! It begins and ends with a story about Jesus and fish. Throughout this musical and narrative journey, Peter and Jesus share the gospel with storytelling, comedy, and some of the best music I have ever heard. The last track, "You are the Christ/Follow Me", is a breathtaking song that challenges all Christians to "follow Jesus" in all aspects of their lives. I used a portion of the storyline of this CD in order to teach a lesson at a church camp. It was the best lesson I have ever taught at camp. This CD is a must have for ALL Christians, especially for church leaders that want a renewed fire and purpose in their spiritual lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, April 20, 2001

My husband and I recently saw The Rock and the Rabbi! I had been looking forward to seeing it, and expected it to be good....but I had NO IDEA how good it REALLY would be! The message was so powerful...Gary Richardson WAS Peter. I believed him. I was already a believer...but if I wasn't...I can't imagine leaving The Rock and the Rabbi being anything but a true believer. The voices of the men and the sounds of the percussionists...were incredible. I could see this show over and over again. The young man that sings the "Simon" part just melted my heart. Derrick Williams, the singing voice of Jesus was equally as powerful. What a blessing this show was for me. I encourage anyone to see it...and hear it...you WILL believe it! In HIS love, Rhonda Koch

I have seen the performance 4 times and have listened to the cd thousands of times and it keeps getting better. The performers are truely vessels of God and His love is ever present. If you are not already following the Son of God - YOU WILL after seeing this performance!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a Performance but a Passion, May 15, 2000

Never before has anything struck to the depths of my being as the Rock and the Rabbi. The first night I saw it in Largo, Fla., I went thinking I was to see a performance. The second time I traveled to Brandon, Fla., to see it, I went waiting and wanting to experience the passion of the life of Christ. From the calling of Peter to "follow me", to the command to the audience to do the same, one is continually drawn closer to a relationship with Christ, as well as challenged to seek a deeper walk with HIM. I originally was told this was a story and performance to reach out to the world, but have come to regard it as a passion to walker closer and deeper for those who aready know HIM....

I saw "The Rock and the Rabbi" in Largo, Florida, February 19. It is awesome! Pure gospel combined with fabulous music. I want everyone I know to see or hear it. The music is captivating and fun. The story sheds new light on the relationship between Peter and Jesus. Since there's a little of Peter in all of us, there's something in this show for everyone. Get it!

I first heard and saw "The Rock and The Rabbi" when it was performed in Baltimore, Md. and was touched by the music in a way that I have never experienced. It inspires, lifts your soul, renews your spirit and fills your heart with joy. I recommend it to everyone regardless of age, religion, race, gender and so forth. You will be a better person for the listening.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Production fills you with "Hope", November 8, 1999

An absolutely, heart rendering performance.Follow the progression of friendship between Jesus and Peter in the gospels, for your self - and you will find, this musical traces their steps "to the Word" Gary Richardson does not deviate from scripture, and with the help of the music and words, you are transported back in time to relive this precious relationship - There is a little bit of "Peter" in all of us, and in our hearts we see our faults as we try to serve a risen saviour - in LOVE, HE forgives us - Honesty - Truth - Hope - What a production ! Follow HIM !

Not your typical broadway show soundtrack. You will either love it or hate it. All of the spoken dialog in the show is reproduced on the soundtrack. The show is essentially the Apostle Peter telling the audience of his encounters with Jesus at various points in his life (very faithful to the biblical accounts)--and the impact they had on his life. After each retelling of an encounter, there is a song that reinforces the point of the encounter. I enjoy the songs a great deal and think they reinforce the messages very well but, for me, the spoken dialog is the most powerful and moving part of the show. The biblical stories really come alive. Both the show and the soundtrack are overtly religious and even evangelical experiences. If that is agreeable to you, then you will love this! If that is not your cup of tea, this probably will not be for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, February 22, 2005
By
This review is from: The Rock & The Rabbi (Audio CD)
I have seen the live performance twice now, and plan on attending again in the next 3 months. The production is outstanding - possibly the best live performance I have ever seen. Everyone I take to the show thanks me for introducing them to it, then begins spreading the word about it to their friends. The musicians are excellent, and the songs stay with me all day long. I listen to this cd over and over. Buy it. I love it. You will too.
