jivin' w/ Jaivin,
This review is from: Rock 'N' Roll Babes (Paperback)
This was 1 of my favourite reads, along w/ Eat Me & currently I am reading her new book Miles Walker, You're Dead. RNRBFOS is an amusing tale set in Newtown, which in case you didn't know is the sort of alternative centre of Sydney being overtaken by trendy yuppies. 3 feamle aliens take over & bring Jake into their Sexual Experimentation Chamber [there is an accompanying cd w/ songs like this that came out a short while after the book]. Their favourite shows are X-Files & Red Dwarf for obvious reasons. The cover shown here is differenty from the original local edition. It is a witty & occasionally sexually charged book & highly entertaining. I recently had an interview w/ Linda for my fanzine, it was so long it is being split over 2 issues.

Out of this world!!!!,
By Charlett (Toronto, Ont, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rock 'N' Roll Babes (Paperback)
I just finished it and I couldn't be in a better mood. It's fun, sexy and absolutly out of this world. I couldn't put it down. With all it's witty content and sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll-o-rama- "what [girl] could resist?". Three high spirited hormone drivin Alien girls rocking up some heat in Sydney, Australia abducting every human in sight and showing them just what these girls are made of. They're "Rock 'n' Roll Babes from Outer Space", "wild 'n' free, extraterrestraial[s] extraordinaire." and I think I'll read it again!!

I was extremely impressed by this book. I`ve read it more than twice now. It is very up to date with the times and I couldn`t put it down. It`s definately a very different alternative to what`s on the market at the moment and Linda Jaivin has an unusually unique writing style. An advisable read for the happening erotic fiction reader.

Linda Jaivin is in fine form with this book about three teenage aliens who are out to have fun. How do you have fun? Sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. If you can cope with the very Australian comments (I read the Aussie version of the book, having J. Minton mentioned worries me, it may have been bowderized) and like a good laugh this is the book for you.

This book was dreadful - a major let down,

This review is from: Rock 'N' Roll Babes From Outer Space (Hardcover)
After reading her very funny first book "Eat Me" I was expecting much more from Linda than this rubbish. Some friends and I hold a book club to read and review books together. Only 50% of the club manged to even finish it, with the others giving up before the end. And everyone hated it. It's the kind of book I'd expect from some love lorne pubescent teenager. The book is full of very crude sexual jokes and course language which can sometimes be very funny. However in this case the jokes just don't work. It was a major disapointment. BTW -our favourite books so far have been : Glade Within the Grove by Foster David Underground Man by Mick Jackson

Hitchicker's guide to sex, drugs and rock'n'roll,

Although definately not being what you expect from the author of Eat me, and so much more than you'd expect from Douglas Addams, R'n'r babes from outer space is extremely funny and yet so, so real. If you're an x-files fanatic, that is. Or a teenager. Recomend also to everyone else who isn't from Nufon.

Perhaps the worst book I have ever read in my life!,
This review is from: Rock 'N' Roll Babes From Outer Space (Hardcover)
After recommendations from others I know who have read this book, I eventually decided to read this pitiful excuse for a book.
After doing so, I am heartily glad that I borrowed this from the library, as I find myself agreeing 100% with the reviewer who placed this book among the worst ten he's ever read. The book, and the plot, have a lot of potential. Potential to be witty, funny, entertaining. In fact, I'm astounded that this writer managed to turn a fairly decent plot idea into something that is so agonizingly bad that I feel less intelligent for having read it. First of all, the characters. There is pretty much nothing likeable about them. The author gives the barest glimpses into them and their lives before launching into a tirade of crude sexual themes and jokes. Anyone who describes this as 'erotic humor' is sadly mistaken, as the supposedly 'erotic' bits leave one with a bad taste in the mouth and as for the humor, the slang and teenage potty-mouth talk cancels out any possibility for real humor. I found myself skipping large chunks as they were just too agonizingly painful and silly to read, and towards the end, I found myself fervently wishing for a plot twist that would result in the untimely and painful deaths of all the main characters at once. I finished it out of sheer determination, just to see if it would get better, as the previous reviewer said, and not only did it not get better, but there were no redeeming points whatsoever. If you're a fan of teen-style potty mouth jokes and in some parts near-indecipherable slang, then this is the book for you. If you're after a good read, that is genuinely humorous and well-written, then stay away from this book. Deserves zero stars or negative. Just my two cents.

Funniest book I've read since Hitchikers Guide to The Universe! Linda Jaivin has a great sence of humour and a brilliant eye for details. If you're in to sex, drugs, rock'n'roll and just simply love a good laught, then there really is no doubt. Go get it!
