This CD is a wonderful tribute to a truly great slide guitar player. One needs just listen to Bonnie Raitt play the slide guitar to appreciate the influence that Lowell George had on his contemporaries. When David Lindley plays on Rocket in My Pocket I can almost close my eyes and imagine Lowell on stage. But when Lowell's daughter Inara sings Trouble, it almost makes me cry.

Nice work all around. The highlight: Randy Newman and Valerie Carter just plain rip the roof right off the place with their version of Sailin' Shoes. A sonic wonder. Crank it up and listen to your walls shake.

Lowell was Da Man! Never got to see him in person but I never pass up anything associated with him. Get all the official Little Feat CDs (including their excellent and neglected post-Lowell George releases) and Thanks I'll Eat It Here before you get this, but get this anyway! It shows off George's brilliant songwriting in the hands of very sympathetic interpreters. I understand a Japanese version features Dr. John and others and includes the signature song Dixie Chicken, but you won't miss it. (There are plenty of covers of that one out there anyway.)

Oh come on....Eddie Money? (Rock and Roll Doctor), perhaps one of the BEST songs done by the Feat ... and Money sounds as if he's READING the lyrics as he's singing. An inspired album, and a MUST for ANYONE who follows the Featsteps ... but keep this one away from people you are trying to convert. Jackson, JD, Bonnie, and Touissant ALL have earned their chops, and deserve to be on this showpiece. Taj Mahal can make the Yellow Pages sound good ...but sheesh...Eddie MONEY??? Little Feat is a southernish boogieish jazzish rockish mix of pure joy,(read "HOY HOY") ... how come Robert Palmer couldn't "Sneak Sally Through the Alley" instead of New Joisey Money stumbling emotionlessly (and somewhat tunelessly) through a signature Feat piece? Bitter? Nah... Little Feat survived the loss of Lowell, and they'll survive Eddie Money. The BEST, and most HOPEFUL sign is the appearance of Lowell George's daughter (again) on a Feat album ... if she's got HALF the tal! ent as her Daddy did ... we ARE in for a FUN ride through the millenium.

As others have said, this CD is a MUST for anyone who likes truly funky music. At the same time, it is a great example of the true influence of one of the true masters of songwriting. One of the things that impressed me most about this CD was the interlacing of Lowell's voice on a few songs. This is a shining example of the greatest songwriter in the business. Lowell is exactly that: a true master who died WAY too young. His influence will be felt for many years to come. This CD is an example of that...

As far as I'm concerned Little Feat is the best sounding band on the planit, with or without Lowell George. With Lowell George however, they are a force! Not just a great sounding band, but an innovative band playing some really great music. We know what Little Feat is without Lowell, but how is Lowell without Little Feat? This album is the answer. Bonnie Raitt is, as always, a phenom. Allen Toussaint, Randy Newman, and Jackson Browne, do what they do best. And I even liked Eddie Money's 'Rock-n-Roll Doctor.' But perhaps the greatest tribute was made buy the most obvious people. A short yet true story...I had just bought the album, and was listening to it while engaged in some other activities, when along comes song # 11. It starts up with as funky a drum fill as you could ask for, then proceeds to blow my sox off! This was as funky a band as I had ever heard. I ran to the album credits, and looked up song # 11 to see who this undiscovered golioth could possibly be. the song...Honest Man, performed by...non other than Little Feat! The Feat is awsome, and Lowell George is Little Feat. Buy this album.

This album is a worthy tribute to George. Roll um easy is just right, and Randy Newman and Valerie Carter take Sailin Shoes to a new place. Really really good.

this is one of the best tribute albums i've ever heard and i'm not easily impressed!

This collection contains some fairly captivating versions of Lowell George's best songs. I do not know why Dixie Chicken was omitted from this collection. It was the signature Little Feat song during Lowell's time with the band. Spanish Moon has some funky and spiritual arrangements that make it kind of special. Inara George's interpretation of Trouble has some tender vocalizations. Bonnie Raitt accompanies Little Feat quite nicely on the riveting Cold Cold Cold. Its a shame that more well known artists did not pay tribute to this talented man. None the less most of the versions are pretty entertaining. Eddie Money's version of Rock N Roll Doctor is a little off kilter. None the less the result is good if not quite on the same level as hearing Little Feat's versions.
