I am a 50 year old white woman and Rock & Roll Jesus has made a convert out of me. Actually, it was his duet with Sheryl Crow on "Picture" awhile ago and "All Summer Long" finalized the deal. "New Orleans" and "Blue Jeans and a Rosary" are also favorites. I always thought of this fellow Michigan boy as a long-haired, screaming, nasty, foul-mouthed white rapster. I tended towards the John Mellencamp, Bob Seger and catchy-tuned Neil Diamond-types. Now I can see how versatile Kid Rock can be. Most of the songs on this album are toe-tapping, head-nodding just plain good stuff. Give it a listen, I hear the kids like this guy, too. ;)

Introspective Kid Doesn't Quite Deliver,
By
This review is from: Rock & Roll Jesus (Clean) (Audio CD)
As Kid Rock quips on the album, he's 36 years old and still having fun. Glad to hear it. I've been a fan of the Kid and his creative fusion of rock and hip hop from the early days. On this effort, however, many of the songs sound contrived - or maybe I'm just uncomfortable with Kid Rock getting serious on topics like religion and war (e.g., Amen). 'So Hott' has a dirty guitar groove and unforgettable opening lyric - yet gets spoiled by the unnecessary f-bomb in the chorus. 'Sugar' sounds like the re-hash of the formula used on 'Cowboy' and just doesn't deliver.
My favorite song is 'All Summer Long," which is has a feelgood vibe and Sweet Home Alabama sample. 'When You Love Someone' is also a nice song on the softer side. Overall, this album will appeal more to fans of southern rock than to those craving in-your-face party jams.

Kid is not my all-time fav artist, but he's climbing my charts. I've heard his other hits and that drove me to buy this album for my spouse who has historically been a fan. We have listened to it almost non-stop ever since. He is a little of all things, and quite certainly unpredictable. I love that about him, and this album.
It isn't too hard core rap; it is good, ol' fashioned rock-n-roll, Kid style. I freggin' love it!!

KID ROCK RULES,
This review is from: Rock & Roll Jesus (Clean) (Audio CD)
I bought 5 copies for Christmas and passed them around - Kid Rock is the BOMB. Sweet songs and powerful songs. Funny songs and nasty songs. LOVE IT. I even bought a copy for the kids that was edited. Amazon's price was the lowest - if you purchased this through Kid Rock's website, it would have cost over $20 per copy!

Good cd, glad I bought it, not like some only one or two songs are worth listening to, Iam not crazy with his slow stuff, but the rest of it is good.

Another great Kid Rock album!,
This review is from: Rock & Roll Jesus (Clean) (Audio CD)
Kid Rock once again shows how diversified his music can be. He has been slowly transitioning into this "Southern Rock" singer for some time now and I think it is complete. Some of the songs are a bit "POPpy", but I enjoy just about everything on it.

Kid Rock again displays with pounding perfection the absolute essence of Michigan Rock with "Rock 'n Roll Jesus", proving once again that he is the pure, unadulterated distillation of all which came before. Or at least breathed heavily. Bob Richie deserves an A PLUS-PLUS-PLUS for this extraordinary effort.

Kid Pop,

What a wet lettuce this turned out to be. After the glorious power of the metal rap and hip hop on his earlier CDs, this is a collection of country and western, and soft pop rock that wouldn't look out of place on a Foreigner album. Hugely disappointing. Get back in the groove Kid Rock. I'll cetainly take a listen before I commit my cash again.

Just not that good...,

I am a big Kid Rock fan; however, I was very disappointed with this album. It is obvious that he is trying to pay respects to his heroes while solidifying his own spot in the rock and roll world. However, it just ends up sounding like he is copying those who came before him. There are a couple of decent songs, and some with decent lyrics, but nothing that stands out or has the punch of any of his hit singles. Skip this one and go back to his earlier work.
