5.0 out of 5 stars Foghat's absolute best!, December 12, 1999
This review is from: Rock & Roll Out (Audio CD)
This album is easily 5 stars, the very best that Foghat ever made. There's great variety here, too. This was their most creative piece of work. The best song is Chateau LaFitte '59 Boogie. It still is, and always has been my favorite Foghat tune. If you like Foghat and don't have this in your collection, you're really missing out. This is a "must have" ..... no disappointments, guaranteed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Proud To Be A Foghat Fan, April 10, 2001
This review is from: Rock & Roll Out (Audio CD)
It seems that at some point in time, being a Foghat fan almost carried some sort of stigma with it. The band always seemed to be a whipping boy of the critics, but they just put their heads down and kept releasing consistently entertaining albums. This one has to be their zenith, although the follow-up, 1975's "Fool For The City," got all the attention. The title cut, "Blue Spruce Woman," and the balls-to-the-wall slide rave-up "Chateau Lafitte '59 Boogie," make this a must-have for any fan of the band or blues-based British rock in general. I wonder why so many people have never heard of it?

4.0 out of 5 stars One of their best!, October 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Rock & Roll Out (Audio CD)
This album is just a notch below Stone Blue as the best Foghat album. The title track is good along with "Blue Spruce Woman", "Hate To See You Go", "Dreamer" and "Eight Days On The Road". But, like one of the other reviewers, the best track by far is "Chateau Lafitte 59 Boogie." This track kicks and also has some outstanding guitar. Skip their most popular albums and pick this one and Stone Blue up first. You'll be glad you did.

and i've been a fan since. i first heard this album back in 1975 and in those days i was a stones, zepplin and who freak. not much else mattered. but this album opened up some doors for me. i just could not get over the rawness of some of the songs, eight days on the road for example. nor could i ignore the fact that this album just rocks and rolls from start to finish. it may not be their best album (fool for the city is i think), but this runs a close second.i wish i could have seen Foghat live. other than the beatles or hendrix i wish i would have seen these guys. great rock and roll.

4.0 out of 5 stars classic Foghat, August 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Rock & Roll Out (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite Foghat albums. It seems kind of like an outgrowth of the "Energized" album, but with some growth or change. It's exactly what you want from Foghat - rockin' rythym, blues-based, slide guitar. My favorites on this album are "Chateau Lafitte '59 Boogie" and "Blue Spruce Woman". "Chateau Lafitte '59 Boogie" is one of, if not my very favorite, Foghat tune. It has a great beat to it, and tons of energy!

By far Foghat's best album. Lonesome Dave and Rod Price are incredible.Dave was a great singer and Rod was possibly the best slide player around. The songs "Eight Days on the Road","Chateau Lafitte"and "Hate to see you Go" are must have's.When I first heard this back in 74'-75',I became an instant fan.Saw them in concert in 77'and they were fabulous.Cheap Trick was on the bill also and Foghat blew them off the stage.Just an excellent hard rock album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Southern rock from Brits, January 18, 2002

"Hate to See You Go" sounds like a Southern rock anthem. The members of Foghat should be made honorary citizens of Atlanta, Macon, and Jacksonville.
