Rock the SAT is not just a gimmick; it actually gets results.”-Colin Mysliwiec, SAT tutor, NYC

“If I had listened to Rock the SAT instead of Bon Jovi when I was in high school, I would've gotten into Harvard.”-Joshua Neuman, editor-in-chief and publisher of Heeb magazine,

Wake Up and Smell the Music!

You have to take the SATs. There's no way out of it. (Seriously, we tried.)

So suck it up, and buy this book. Why? Because it's the fastest, easiest, coolest way to learn the vocabulary words you're going to see on the test. What makes it so easy? Music. (You like music, don't you?) 13 slamming tunes on one tricked-out CD with a study guide crammed with song lyrics, definitions, and twisted sentences featuring the vocab in action. Just pop it in your iPod or car stereo. Then kick back, listen, and learn. It's like studying but without the studying part. Buy it quick before the man shuts us down!

Pop quiz: Do you want to score major points? Do you want to kick butt on your verbals?

Yes, there will be a test.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Results!, December 2, 2006
By

This review is from: Rock the SAT: Trick Your Brain into Learning New Vocab While Listening to Slamming Music (Paperback)
My mom recently purchased this CD/book for me, and within three days, I had memorized half of the songs. They are catchy and fun to listen to. I have never had an easier way to learn vocabulary words- studying through books is tedious. Rock the SAT uses about 20 vocab words per song, and there are context clues so even if you don't look up the words' definitions in the book, (which I still recommend), you will learn the words. I haven't taken my test yet, but I keep coming across many Rock the SAT words in my practice tests- and it makes me thankful that we came across this wonderful CD! My favorite songs are Coalesce, Spitball in the Eye, Harbinger, and Salacious- although I like them all!

5.0 out of 5 stars SAT-tutor approved!, September 7, 2006
This review is from: Rock the SAT: Trick Your Brain into Learning New Vocab While Listening to Slamming Music (Paperback)
I've been tutoring SAT students in Manhattan, Connecticut, and New Jersey for ten years now, and I've never seen any other resource or material like this book/CD. It's really a whole new way to approach studying vocab - one of the most dreaded and most necessary parts of preparing for the test - that I think students will really go for. The songs are terrific! I just got my hands on this book (after a friend recommended it) and can't wait to use it with my students this fall.

4.0 out of 5 stars interesting..., August 2, 2006

It's a lot more fun than the other SAT books/flashcards out there, I must say. As an avid music listener, the music isn't amazing, but it works. The words range from really easy (moasic, parallel) to difficult (the first song - reticence, taciturn, laconic). You can prevew a song on the Rock the Sat website too.

There's also Vocab Rock, and it uses more than one genre of music - it had R&B and everything else, not just rock music like this book. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm thinking about getting it.
