About the Author

Dayna Steele, best known as Houston's First Lady of Radio ruled the rock airwaves for almost two decades. Honored by Billboard Magazine as Local Radio Personality of the Year in 1996, Steele was also included in Talkers Magazine's 100 Most Important Radio Talk Show Hosts. Steele spent years traveling the globe and interviewing countless bands and rock stars like Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie, Bono and Sammy Hagar...to name a few. The great music and insights bestowed upon Steele by these rock legends were what inspired Rock to the Top. Since leaving the airwaves she has gone on to head up a successful marketing and public relations firm, a space-related e-commerce company and SmartGirlsRock.com - an online community for girls destined to be tomorrow's leaders, scientists, mathematicians and engineers. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

More About the Author

YourDailySuccessTip.com CEO and rock radio Hall of Famer Dayna Steele is an inspiring keynote speaker and entertaining corporate emcee. She's been called a pep talk from the deejay booth, much-needed business sense disguised as a rock show, and a woman with ridiculously sane advice. ABC News says Dayna's philosophy is good old-fashioned success advice from rock and roll. Readers Digest Magazine called her one of the 35 people who inspire us in a list that included Randy Pausch, Maria Shriver, and Harrison Ford.

Dayna spent years as one of Houston's most popular rock radio personalities. Her brushes with the famous and infamous led her to author the best-selling business book Rock to the Top: What I Learned about Success from the World's Greatest Rock Stars. Her current book series 101 Ways to Rock Your World includes Everyday Activities for Success Every Day, On the Golf Course, and Welcome to College. Dayna's affinity for creating entrepreneurial enterprises launched The Space Store (www.thespacestore.com), the world's largest space related e-commerce venture, and Smart Girls Rock (www.smartgirlsrock.com), connecting deserving high school students with much-needed personal technology. Dayna is a rock radio hall of famer. She lives in Seabrook, Texas, with her husband, author and former NASA pilot Charles Justiz, and has three sons. She likes wine.

Dayna Steele, Rock to the Top is an inspiring read, written with stories from her experience with some of the world's greatest rock stars. In addition to what it takes to rock to the top in whatever profession you have chosen, do it with passion, preparation and treat people with integrity. The book addresses how to be successful and draws you into a world of winners, of what to do and what not to do in your adventure to Rock to the Top. We are the Champions is a subtitle in the book where it's mentioned, passion gives you energy. She writes with simple to remember subtitles and stories that make the points poignant and unforgettable. I would not characterize this as self help but certainly motivational and if that doesn't intrigue you then the pictures of the stars in the back of the book will. I have read self help and always end up wondering what the writer was going through and how they actually got there, leaving me with no more answers than when I started reading. This book leaves nothing to the imagination of how to be your best and be successful at your chosen passion. What will you learn about success from the world's greatest rock star stories? Everything you need to know to find your passion and enjoy the read while you Rock to the Top.

I'm not into self-help/business improvement books. In general, I find them boring and cliche. So why do I love this book? Maybe it's because I could relate to it from the perspective of a person who grew up in Houston in the 1980's. Maybe because it gives an insider's view of what made rock bands like Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and ZZ Top in the 1980's so great.

Or maybe it's because Dayna Steele has written a masterpiece that is unlike anything I've been interested in reading before. Simple, straightforward advice on how to reach your goals in life, based on lessons that she learned while she controlled the rock airwaves in Houston. The 80's bands who are still popular remember today in a large way owe their eternal fame to the disc jockeys who gave them air time. And reading her book makes it clear that there is more to the fame of the ones who remain in the spotlight today than just their music. This is what Rock to the Top is about. Dana picks up on what made rock legends legendary. And based on her stories it is clear this goes far beyond the music they are known for. Perhaps what made the really great rock stars of the 80's was their values and beliefs. The types of values that motivated the best to reach out to superstars like my dear friend Kevin Hendon.

Indeed it was a personal connection to a childhood friend whose life was cut short that led me to buy this book. What I didn't expect was what I learned from Dayna's experience-based advice. After putting it to practice for the past few months, I've noticed it works. Thanks for sharing your secrets and passion. Five stars.

As a long time Houstonian, I grew up listening to Dana and Moby. Reading her book brought back so may memories of "back in the day" when Dana ruled 101! Back when 101 was THE station in Houston! I sure do miss those days...
Dana is a great business woman and knows what she's doing! This book was a great read!
