4.0 out of 5 stars B.B. King Blues club in NY, Oct 2002, October 23, 2002

Was on business in NY, saw that Jack Bruce was headlining at the B.B. King Blues grill, and got seats at the stage (!). Jon Paris stole the show as the intro act, and has a style that is so authentic and so creative it still makes me wonder if he could have been as good as he sounded. This is Blues with a driving maturity; he is no newbie to the genre. Thanks, Jon, for a great set.

5.0 out of 5 stars I agree with the other review!, September 10, 1999

Jon Paris is a class act! This is a blues-rock extravaganza! If you are looking for no-frills all-out blues, this is your kinda stuff. I kind of equate it to the old Edgar Winter "Roadwork" album, where the musicians go all out, all the time. Nice work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Paris proves once and for all that white guys can play blues, August 28, 1999

He does a mediocre take on "It's Not Easy." Now that I have cleared that up I can without hesitation say that this has to be one of the best surprises in blues today. This ex bass player of Johnny Winters moves into his own as a guitarist, singer, harmonica player, and song writer. From the first biting lick to the final tremulous chord Paris delivers an album that many established artists such as the Rolling Stones could only dream about. With such backing musicians as the Uptown Horns and Johnny Johnson, Paris takes the blues, and gives it new life through the simplicity from which it was born.
