This is the album that made me a lifetime Y&T fan........
tracks "dont stop running","lipstick and leather", and one of the greatest power ballads people have never heard "this time"
If you like Y&T and have never heard this one its a must buy.

"In Rock We Trust" is an album I can recommend without hesitation. It is one of my favorite albums, though I know it's not without its faults, few as they may be.

"Rock And Roll's Gonna Save The World" is yet another great leadoff track, and the hit "Don't Stop Runnin'" is one of my favorites. To paraphrase George Carlin, you don't have to be Fellini to figure out the nature of "Lipstick And Leather," and I'll put "This Time" up against any other power ballad.

The problems: "Life, Life, Life" and "I'll Keep On Believin' (Do You Know)" kind of drag along a bit. Not enough that I'd skip forward, but enough that it kind of slows the pacing of the album.

It isn't their best, but it's in the top four. Very much worth purchasing.

Just as melodic metal was starting to gain popularity in the U.S., Y&T, a long struggling band from San Francisco, released In Rock We Trust in 1984. The wheels were certainly in motion for the band. Not only was MTV playing their videos for "Lipstick and Leather" and "Don't Stop Runnin'" but they were also the chief opening act for a peak Twisted Sister. However, the band drew their calling card a little too early. This album, along with their next release, the live Open Fire, would be the peak of their success as subsequent albums like Down for the Count and Contagious would pale in comparison.

In Rock We Trust is a great hard rock album from beginning to end. Although their anthems would become very cheesy later on, "Rock & Roll's Gonna Save the World" and especially "Break Out Tonight!" are both top notch. While the aforementioned "Lipstick and Leather" and "Don't Stop Runnin'" are very good songs, the lesser known "(Your Love Is) Driving Me Crazy" and "I'll Keep On Believin' (Do You Know)" are even better. As evidenced throughout the album, the heart and soul of Y&T was Dave Meniketti. One of the few lead vocalists in metal that doubled on lead guitar, he had a gift of throwing in tasty leads during the verses that gave the band's songs more punch. Other great tracks include the riff heavy "Masters and Slaves", the mid-tempo "Life, Life, Life", and the frantic "She's A Liar." Finally, the closing "This Time" is one of their best power ballads, something the band always had a knack for. All told, In Rock We Trust is a great melodic metal album from a band that never got their just due. Highly recommended.

I have recently purchased the following cd's by Y & T: Earthshaker,Black Tiger, Mean Streak, In Rock We Trust, and Down For The Count. I first bought these albums on LP and Cassette in the 80's when I lived in Monterey, CA and was able to see the band on several occasions. I had always hoped to get these albums on cd, but until recently they were high priced imports even when used. I love every Y and T cd for the same reasons, they have hard rocking power balancing heavy muscular and commercial leanings, grace of ballads with an masculine edge, and lyrics that range between playful innuendo, outright bravado, and thoughtful phiosophical insight, depending on the song.
I also have Ten, Contagious, and will probably buy the rest of their catalog on cd. Far from only taking me back to a time and place, their music is timeless in spite of the years gone by. Hearing these on cd makes them brand new again and will enjoy them for years to come. Buy them, they will not disappoint.

While bands like Van Halen, KISS, and the Scorpions get most of the credit for the creation of the ultra-successful 80's hard rock and metal sounds, Bay Area institution Y&T deserves a fair share of recognition as well. The band has been rocking since the late 70's, and their influence on the hard rock scene - particularly the Hollywood scene - is undeniable.

1984's In Rock We Trust was the band's sixth studio album, and it's a melodic hard rock monster! I could list the best songs on In Rock We Trust, but really they're all great. Album opener Rock & Roll's Gonna Save the World is just a fantastic rock anthem, Masters and Slaves, Lipstick and Leather, Don't Stop Runnin', and Your Love Is Drivin' Me Crazy are all great Y&T rockers, and closing ballad This Time is downright chilling. As cliché as this sounds, In Rock We Trust is "all killer, no filler".

In Rock We Trust is an absolute must-have 80's rock album, and is another in a series of great Y&T releases.

NOTE: There are a few different versions of In Rock We Trust to choose from. The 2005 reissue from Majestic Rock was just that - a reissue. No remastering and no bonus tracks. The 2007 reissue, also from Majestic, features a pair of bonus live tracks. The best of the bunch is the 2006 reissue from A&M that was digitally remastered under the band's supervision. This sound quality is leaps and bounds better than any other version and it even comes with the studio version of Go for the Throat as a bonus track.

Y&T had been poised for the big time for a few years now but for some reason their quality metal recordings of the early `80's were not translating into LP sales and their record company must have gotten antsy. In the summer of 1984, the band released `In Rock We Trust' and the evil spectre of corporate influence seemed to permeate their sound. `In Rock' is not a terrible record but except for top notch production quality, the songs are among the lamest the band had yet recorded. Sell out was the name of the game here but when sell out doesn't equal sales then a once rising band starts in inevitable decline into obscurity. Tom Allom was the third big name British producer to work with the band on consecutive records and his work with Judas Priest, though heavy as hell was also much more commercial than that band had ever been. Unfortunately Y&T hadn't become the legends that Priest had become and fans were a little less forgiving. Still, Meniketti and his men put out "Don't Stop Runnin'" as a single and while made for MTV still had the old Y&T power of old - melodic but slamin'. "Rock n' Roll Is Gonna Save the World" is a hoot and "Lipstick and Leather" helped push `In Rock' to near gold status, though I think that song is one of their lamest hits ever. Not much else to recommend here but the fans will find something to like - lot of ballads for the ladies, but for ones who loved the early A&M era of the trilogy....'In Rock We Trust' is a bit of a stinker....A mascot??? Who do they think they are..... Iron Maiden???!!!??

I loved this cassette in the 80's and wanted it on Cd. Cd used but sounds great.
