5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Works For Me!
I found this book to be fun and rewarding, and I enjoyed the songs on the CD that came with it. The authors point out that all of us have plenty of lessons stored away in memory. The trick is to remember them. They deliver a very practical method to use music as an anchor to remember and use life's lessons. They use specific songs to demonstrate, but also relate...

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT WORTH THE MONEY!
This book is an attempt by Mr. Lucia to once again reach the success of Walk the Talk; but, it is clearly obvious that without Eric Harvey's and Steve Ventura's help and talent - Al Lucia is left flopping on the deck alone! This book is an attempt by Mr. Lucia to once again reach the success of Walk the Talk; but, it is clearly obvious that without Eric Harvey's and Steve Ventura's help and talent - Al Lucia is left flopping on the deck alone! Now days anyone can self-publish their own book; but, to then have your reviews written by your own daughter and your own sister-in-law, not to mention other friends and family - now that is taking it to a whole new extreme. Hat's off to you Mr. Lucia - you have sunken to a new low in your quest for the all mighty dollar! It is just too bad you had to drag Donna Long down with you!

The trick is to remember them. They deliver a very practical method to use music as an anchor to remember and use life's lessons. They use specific songs to demonstrate, but also relate how to use your own music, too. Now, I use their methods every day, and I plan to give this book to friends and family as gifts.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a waste of time and money, November 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Rock Your Way to Happiness: Harmogenize! A Fun Way to a More Fulfilling Life (Includes music CD of 21 Original Oldies) (Hardcover)
I don't know what is more amazing; the fact that this book actually got published or the fact that the reviewers here must be mostly relatives and employees.

This is a colossal waste of time. "Rock your way to happiness?" let's get real. Listening to certain songs might make you feel good because it reminds you of great things in your life. But do you really need a book to tell you that? I don't think so.

The CD that comes with the book has good songs on it, but it's clearly aimed at the Baby Boomer generation and earlier. If you gave this book to anyone younger than forty, they would think you're nuts. Let me rephrase that: if you gave this book to ANYONE they would think you're nuts because you actually spent money on such ridiculous excuse for a book. (I got it as a gift; clearly, I am motivated to keep others from either gifting it or re-gifting it as I did.)

Save your money. Buy the soundtrack to The Big Chill or get a Mowtown collection and listen and reminisce on your own. Don't pad this guy's pocket.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is just plain stupid, September 14, 2001

This one of the most riduculous excuses for a book I have ever read. Yes, the CD included is full of great music, but the book is a complete waste of time. Buy a rock and roll cd collection somewhere and save yourself the agony of having the book to read.
It's amazing what can get published these days.

4.0 out of 5 stars Getting n'sync in body and soul, August 24, 2000

"Rock Your Way to Happiness" is a wonderful book to put life in perspective and regain a balance. The self-help messages combined with the rock music I grew up with provided hours of fun and relaxation. I felt better about my problems and more in touch with the success in my life. I even introduced my kids to some of my favorite songs. When I am fighting to regain perspective on life, I play the CD again. It works ...

5.0 out of 5 stars A magical moment for baby boomers!, August 18, 2000

I thoroughly enjoyed this book--it brought back fond memories about my childhood in the 50's and 60's when I learned to dance with my cousins. Next to listening to old american bandstand shows, this was the most nostalgic I have been about that era.

I loved the term "harmogenizing"--harmony is a concept in music we could use more of in our culture! The music gives me time for reflection and integration with what is and what might be in my life. I recommend it to all the old "hippies" who love music. Harmogenize and have fun with it---and don't take yourself so seriously.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rock Your Way to Happiness: Harmogenize! A Fun Way to a More, August 18, 2000

Hurry up and slow down...in our fast paced world sometimes we have to slow up a bit. Donna and Al have found a way to take this crazy pace we call life and put a different spin on it. Rock Your Way to Happiness may sound a bit unrealistic but I gave it a chance. By taking music I grew up with, ok- I'm over fifty, and connecting it with mini life-lessons, simple but important lessons I sometimes forget, the book help me realize there is a connection between music and day to day life.

The simple way the concepts are presented, one/two pages each with connection to the music made this book fun to read, but with a message. I found myself not going from front to back but jumping in and out reading some sections, skipping others, and re-reading more than a few.

I found listening to the CD on the way home from work puts things into perspective, slow down and listen to This Magic Moment.

This is a great book! The Cd included is a nice touch and the music is great. It brought back so many memories. This is an awesome way to remember life's lessons and the learning experience from them. After reading this book, I've decided to use music as a teaching tool for my kids. Thanks Al and Donna for such an "out of the box" approach to learning.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the book very much, it made me feel better !, September 3, 1999
This review is from: Rock Your Way to Happiness: Harmogenize! A Fun Way to a More Fulfilling Life (Includes music CD of 21 Original Oldies) (Hardcover)
This book is very unique and very fun to read, I also enjoyed the music CD, the music reminded me of time gone by and that we only live once. Take one day at a time and when you find yourself worrying, just think of the book and the music and it helps you to relax.
