Book Description

April 28, 2007
The Divine Mother is known by many names and takes many forms. In Christianity, she is the Virgin Mary. In China, she is universally loved as the goddess of compassion, Quan Yin. In Hawaii, Pele, the goddess of fire, manifests in the form of a woman near the volcanoes. In India, she is embodied by Kali, Lakshmi, Tara, and other goddesses. The fusion of feminine qualities from all religions and traditions, the Divine Mother can be a nurturing presence and a powerful guide along your individual spiritual path. Through stories, prayers, and teachings, Sondra Ray enthusiastically escorts you into the profound reawakening of the sacred feminine in the hearts and minds of seekers throughout the world. Ray describes her pilgrimages to holy places where she has sought the divine feminine, from the revered Baca Valley in Colorado to the Himalayan foothills. Her reflections on Amma (the hugging saint), Mother Teresa, Mary Magdalene, and other Divine Mothers, as well as men like Shastriji and Babaji, who embrace the feminine aspect of divinity, provide insight and inspiration as well as suggestions for worship and renewal. Ray's delightful and awe-inspiring adventures, coupled with insightful teachings and prayers, show how embracing the Divine Mother can help attract more love, abundance, clarity, and wisdom into your life. In Rock Your World with the Divine Mother, Ray demonstrates that the Divine Mother's presence is essential for both inner peace and peace in the world.

Review

“I remember first hearing Sondra speak. ... In her words and, even more powerfully, in her being, I knew that night I had found a guiding light. ... If Sondra writes a new book, I read it. I let go of my left brain and drink her in.” — from the foreword by Marianne Williamson, author of A Return to Love --This text refers to the Kindle Edition edition.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Feminine Qualities In Everyday Life, March 27, 2008
This review is from: Rock Your World with the Divine Mother: Bringing the Sacred Power of the Divine Mother into Our Lives (Paperback)
As a student of spiritual disciplines, Sondra Ray believes that inner peace as well as world peace requires the presence of the Divine Mother.

In Rock Your World with the Divine Mother, Ray shares her pilgrimages to holy places and reflects on spiritual women, such as Mother Teresa and Mary Magdalene, who have influenced her.

In the author's words, this book "is to help you achieve miracle consciousness." Throughout, Ray guides readers along a spiritual path to increased awarness.

The Divine Mother is called by many names by many cultures and religions. In China, she is Quan Yin, the goddess of compassion; in Hawaii, the goddess of fire, Pele; in Christianity, she is the Virgin Mary. Ray presents stories, teachings, and prayers designed to create a renewed interest in the feminine qualities from religion and cultural traditions. She also includes a chapter about Spiritual Renewal Breathwork and correlates it to her rebirthing movement. She challenges some of our Westernized thoughts about society and urges people to allow the Divine Mother back into their lives--for their own good and the good of the world.

One needs to be open to new thoughts about spirituality as she reads through the complex aspects of the Divine Mother's influence in life as described by Ray. In today's turbulent times, anyone who is concerned about the direction in which the world is headed should take the time to read Ray's book and seriously consider where there is room for the Divine Mother in their lives.

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth the paper its printed on, March 23, 2008
This review is from: Rock Your World with the Divine Mother: Bringing the Sacred Power of the Divine Mother into Our Lives (Paperback)
i wrote this review once, and i am not sure why it isn't here. this is a very misleading book. i bought it because i have led a coven for 10 years and was looking for some inspiration both for myself and my members. this book has maybe one meditation in the back worth anything. how it is supposed to help YOU find the divine mother is beyond me. the book is filled with the authors tellings of the places she's been and the people she's met and all of the coincidences between. she didn't write it to help anyone, only to brag about being able to travel the world and talk about the so-called miracle she's witnessed. who cares where you have traveled? how are stories of your travels supposed to help any of your readers find spirituality? this is how the book goes; "i traveled to a desert and led a group of people in meditation in a cave and something happened and it was a miracle. I then went to India and met a guru, this happened and that was a miracle." it's very blah, blah, blah, look what i've done. if you have honestly connected with the divine mother, what does telling us where you have traveled, who you met, and all the meditations and workshops you've led have to do with anything other than stroking one's own ego. leave that stuff for you're biography or "about the author" page. ego is not the way to any god. and, just because something interesting happens, doesn't mean it's a miracle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Probably the most poorly-written book I have every read.., May 29, 2008

I typed a long review of this book about 2 weeks ago, but, it has not appeared yet (?) The writing itself is just terrible. Sounds like a computer was used to randomly select and spit out canned "new age" phrases. Nothing is really explained well in this book, and, it appears to be one long advertisement for the author's business. Considering all the talk about Eastern philosophy and "selflessness", etc, the book just seemed like a long stream of I, I, I, I, me, me, me... My friend asked me to read it and tell her what she thought.. that's the only reason I didn't throw it in the garbage after about page 20!
