Not bad, but Imperfect design,
By Doug "velodoug" (Mill Valley, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: RockStand Folding Multiple Guitar Stand (for 7 Guitars)
This isn't a bad stand, but it has a couple of disadvantages a user should be aware of before they buy.
[1] The base makes it easy to bang guitars into one another. There are no separators and it is easy to put the guitar at rest with more weight on one rail than the other. Doing this will make the guitar twist into the adjacent guitar once you let go of the neck. The more expensive rack that folds into (what looks like) a small guitar case has separators that keep the guitars from knocking into each other. This rack might be worth investigating before you make a purchase. [2] Portability - This rack is difficult to pack in your vehicle because of its height and width. It is as tall and deep as the storage space in my Ford Explorer. [3] If you want to leave your guitar cable in your guitar when you put it in a stand, chances are you will need a second stand to supplement this one. Depending on where you input jack is, this stand may not accomodate you. At the end of the day, I wish I had spent more money to get the one that folds into a small guitar case.

Pretty good stand, a little pricey,
By Bite Me (Tempe, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: RockStand Folding Multiple Guitar Stand (for 7 Guitars)
This is an OK stand--it will get the job done for you. When assembling, you notice that the build quality is only so-so; some of the holes are drilled to tightly that it's hard to get the bolt through, and the tabs that connect the upright sections to the base (and allow for folding) are welded with uneven quality to that I had to bolt one tab on the inside and the other on the outside of the corresponding tabs just to get the plastic bumpers to "bump" mostly right. No big deal, but not what you would expect. It's as though the welders were just eyeballing where to weld the tabs and did not have a proper jig.
The padding around the base and at the top neck rest is what I call air conditioning insulation. You might have seen the soft squishy stuff around your AC plumbing. I think it's OK as I have had another stand with a similar kind of padding and I haven't noticed any damage to guitar finishes. However, the surface texture of this stand is slightly different from that Rockstand 5-guitar unit so it is probably a different material or finish. There is a downside to this type of padding, and that is, after a guitar rests in the same spot for a long time, the padding becomes compressed and thus provides less padding than it did when it was new. This is more noticeable for thinner guitars where the pressure is greater. I suppose that the padding would spring back after a while of not being pressured, and you might help this process by trying to twist the padding around the square stock that it is wrapped around so that a different portion of the padding is exposed. My biggest complaint is that this 7-unit stand is built differently from the Rockstand 5-unit stand, one of which I already owned. The 5-unit stand has padding at the _ends_ of the bottom of the stand--it just wraps around the entire rectangle of the base. This is great because it makes it pretty impossible to bump a guitar against the metal parts at the ends. However, on the unit under review, the padding does not extend around the ends and leaves open the possibility of bumping a guitar against some pretty ugly and pointy metal parts if you're not a little careful or not completely sober. Realistically, you'd have to be off maybe three inches when you set the guitar down, but still...it just looks like a poorly thought out design. I suppose it was done this way for the 7-unit model to make it easier to ship in a small package. This is a 7-unit stand and that it is, unless you want to carefully store acoustic or thick electric guitars. The spacing between the upper tabs that hold the neck is four inches. Measure how thick your acoustic guitars are and you will see that there is very little room for error if placing acoustic guitars in adjacent slots to avoid bumping them. Electrics will fare much better, with room for a strap to flop around if you choose to have a separate permanently attached strap for each one, like I do. I am comfortable storing only four acoustic guitars in this unit, however. I bought two of these stands so that I could store eight acoustics. Not really a slam on the design, because the four inch spacing seems to be a good compromise for seven electrics versus four acoustics. I feel that the price is a little high for the overall feel and quality that you get, but then everything seems a little pricy to me these days

Just What the Doctor Ordered,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: RockStand Folding Multiple Guitar Stand (for 7 Guitars)
The guitar rack is exactly what I expected though I do not use it for seven electric guitars. It is a super fit for my acoustics; two guitars, a banjo and a mandolin...with room to spare. Despite one or two other reviews to the contrary, it's easily transportable. If one is going to carry that many instruments, it voids the "too large to fit in my vehicle," comments I read before purchase (it's not too large, by the way). It has become an essential for multi-instrument gigs. I had no assembly issues; a point that concerned me from a few other feedbacks. Even with a couple bracket welds that were not quite straight, by inserting all bolts loosely and then doing a final tightening everything came together very smoothly. Very happy with the rack and, finally a solution for racks that were too tight for my acoustic equipment.
